if you go to middle eastern stores, or even indian stores cardamon is waaay waaaaay cheaper. stop buying ethnic ingredients at chain grocery stores- they over charge!! same goes with pomegranate juice... or figs... or dates.

Or buy it from the bulk aisle! More and more stores have bulk now, so just get what your need for the recipe and it can't be more than a buck a two at most. Thanks for the recipe!!

Agreed! Cardamom in the local Indian food store is like 3.99 for a medium sized bag. Just pop open the shells and grind them up if you want, although for steeping like this, they work whole.
A lesser cheap case is buying from penzeys.com, which is still fairly cheap and very high quality stuff!
Yeah, never buy that stuff from the grocer. TOO expensive.
I used to get the best Chai tea from the cafe at Borders when I worked there, for some reason I've never had better! It was so thick and creamy. I bought some chai tea bags the other say and remain unimpressed. Perhaps your recipe will help!
You're welcome to print out and use any of the recipes I post here! It's my pleasure to share them. ALSO: I'm working on a book now about food memories and growing up with a chef mother. It will include recipes and musings on the importance of food in life. It's gonna be in full color, from First Second Publishing, and it's called "Relish." Look for it in a year or two!
