Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given
she gave me:
the Mothership - ahahahaha, aka WalMart, aka The Evillest Place On Earth, I know I know. but I love it. I am a life-long Poor, so my back-to-school shopping was done at BiWay (remember BiWay? jeans for $6 and underwear for 69 cents and sweaters for $4?) and KMart, but both of those chains went out of business, so WalMart is my new best friend, along with Dollarama and Zellers. I buy most of my shoes at Walmart from the $2 markdown bin, and a lot of my hygiene stuff, and, honestly, it made me very happy when "my" Mothership turned into a SuperMegaMothership! so. much. stuff. so. cheap.
gay movies - my first experience with a Gay movie was "Maurice" on SuperEcran when I was in uni; ever since I have been obsessed with boys who love boys and have quite an extensive collection, on VHS and laserdisk and now on dvd and on the computer. it's that awakening, I think, when you realize that there are other people out there Like You, and then you want to see them all and know and understand. of course, I should have spent my time studying straight people, for, you know, the anthropological aspects, but eh. boys making out with boys is funner.
social work - I am a recovering social worker, 11 years on the front lines at a shelter, and now I still work part-time in the field (because my new job in education, alas, is not that stable yet). I don't regret having done it for so long, but it has contributed to my general cynicism about the world. and, people who want to actually make a living wage should probably avoid doing it (although it helps if you have a contributing partner in your household); it is truly a labour of "love," not financial reward.
cooking - I absolutely love cooking (except when I don't), and I've found that, generally, the food that I cook is much better than anything I can buy, because I am a whiz with spices and am pretty fearless in the kitchen (except I cannot make piecrust, but eh, frozen is fine), and I find so much commercially-prepared food over-utilizes salt (yuck) and under-utilizes things like pepper and basil and oregano and cumin. I like to just try things out, because it's just food, and I love the fact that I can pretty much always find a meal to make out of the contents of my pantry and freezer. soups are plentiful and simple and have no rules; same with casseroles and I always, always have the ingredients to whip up a cake or banana bread or a batch of cookies. I fear not the zombie apocalypse.
Shemar Moore - aka Mr. Derek Morgan on "Criminal Minds," aka one of the hottest asses in the world. he is simply beautiful, and is one of the few people in the world would should not be required to wear clothing (and I adore the way they dress him on "CM" to show off the muscles and the ink and the physicality, while still keeping him a smart, intelligent, contributing member of the team). I also adore the subtle flirtation that his character has with Matthew Gray Gubler's Spencer Reid, with the "pretty boy"s and the touching and the "you okay, kid?" and the playing with the hair and THEY ARE SO CANONICALLY BOYFRIENDS NOW BECAUSE MORGAN ATE HIS JELL-O ahem. I love that he has a confident enough sense of himself and his sexuality to "go there," without being stereotypical (or even that overt, it's just played for the slash-glasses-wearing in the crowd). also, did I mention he's a complete hotass? because hi, Shemar, hi. my sekrit boyfriend, for sure.
go ahead, you know you want to ask.
