crap crap crap.

well, the tube just went on my big tv in the living room. that's _my_ tv, the first big tv (ie, over 19") that I ever bought, about, ummmm. I think it was one of my first purchases when I got my first "real job" at the shelter, so around 12 years ago, give or take.

the crappy thing is, the tv in my kitchen died about three weeks ago. I've been planning on replacing that (I live alone, I need noise, and I cook a lot, so I like having a little tv in the kitchen), but it wasn't a priority, since I can _hear_ the tv in the living room from the kitchen. not so much anymore.

or, well, I can still _hear_ the damn thing, since it is sitting there making an extremely annoying, extremely high-pitched whine at me. and I can't unplug it, since it's the set that the satellite setup is hooked into, so if I unplug it, I can't watch tv in my bedroom. tv in my bedroom is pretty much the only reason I am not late for work in the mornings, since I turn the tv on to the news as soon as my alarm goes off, and lie there and watch it and wake up until the first commercial break comes on.

(yes, I have a lot of tvs. I also have a reasonably big house, and the set that was in my kitchen is at least 25 years old, and has _dials_ on it to change the channels. I think that set might be older than the majority of the people on my flist.)

so now I'm thinking, do I take myself to Walmart and try to buy a tiny tv (which will eventually end up in the kitchen) for about sixty bucks and hook it up in the living room to the satellite box so I can change channels and not hear that god-awful whine, or do I spend another hundred bucks and get a new 27" tube set at Best Buy for the living room? I'd kind of like to get a nice, not huge flat-screen for the living room (which is on the list of Shit What I Need, but is way far below washer, tires, roof, and laptop.), but if I got the larger set I could always put it in the basement later on, because the one down here (which is not mine, is about 20 years old, and is also dying) is so old it doesn't have any stereo inputs, and I can't hook anything up to it except the cable. no dvd player, etc.

the ironic thing is that the majority of the shit in my house is not actually mine, in that I did not buy most of it, but it's mine by default, in that I ended up "owning" it because the people it does belong to just left it here when they moved out. (possession is 9/10th of the law?) the dead tv in the kitchen was my mom's (from the master bedroom), the dying tv in the basement is my dad's (his new wife has like a ginormous flatscreen). the only things in my basement that I paid for are my computer, my laptop, one bookshelf, the fan, the hepa filter, and my computer desk and chair. the only things in my living room that I bought are the futon, the dead tv, and the entertainment centre it sits on. pretty much all I've bought in my house are freestanding shelves, actually, heh. I've bought about 12-15 of those.

sigh. okay. I think Walmart it is, since I really don't feel like driving to Kingston tonight. I was going to come home and have a nap and then work out! and, crap, I have my workout clothes on, so I have to _change_.

man, it's hard being me! *eyeroll*

thank god for having a job with a paycheque that lets me actually fix this kind of "problem," man. super super luxury.
