I thought this was fun to post, it was posted on Lucy's official website before the show started.
Privileged (formerly known as "Surviving the Filthy Rich"), is based on a book called "How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls," which I've just started reading now. It is about a young woman named Megan (JoAnna Garcia) who gets fired from her job as a tabloid journalist and is offered a position as a tutor for two rich twins, played by Ashley Newbrough and me. I play Rose Baker, who is the nicer twin. She is a bubbly, charismatic girl who wants to venture out into the world. Rose secretly likes Megan, but must hide it from her sister Sage.
I auditioned for this a few months back. There was a series of auditions. It was especially hard for the producers, because they had to choose two actresses whom they liked, but that also looked alike. I was sitting in my hotel room in Vancouver when I got the call that I was cast and the show was on the CW fall schedule. I had to pack quickly to be on a flight early the next morning for upfronts in NYC!
I had so much fun shooting the pilot episode. The rest of the cast are really talented and genuinely nice people. Ashley and I had some time to spend together and get to know each other a bit more, which was good because we play twins. Jo [Garcia] is just so amazing…such a kind person. I truly believe I've made some friends for life =) It is going to be quite the ride for all of us!
One of my favorite scenes in the pilot is the "tasing scene," when Megan is first introduced to Rose and Sage. She opens their bedroom door and the twins' first instinct is to sit up and tase her because they aren't used to anyone coming into their room before noon. It's really funny.
The biggest challenge in shooting the pilot would have to be creating the bond between Ashley and me. We play twins, and they have such a unique and strong relationship. It was a bit difficult to convey this with someone you just met, but luckily Ashley and I hit it off! We have good chemistry and I think that will be evident in the show.
