Check out
The Guest List, a new feature on Pitchfork. They ask questions that we don't always get to see during a typical record-review/new tour interview piece. To kick it off is my favorite, Colin Meloy. I like that they ask the musicians what books they've been reading. Nobody asks that enough of their friends and buddies...
My favorite quote from Colin is this, since I know I identify with it as do many of my music-loving pals:
"I went through a major Sam Cooke phase during the winter, and I instantly needed to have everything that he'd ever done. It was really weird; it came over me really fast and quick. And that's the way it works these days, with every record being instantly at your fingertips. The collector’s appetite is hard to sate when you have everything."
True. So true. Alright, good job, Pitchfork. Good job.
