That was so overwhelming. Upper Tarble full of people screaming and cheering at every result, laughing and talking and eating pizza and there was a COUNTDOWN at 11:00 and they just announced it, and the room went WILD, screaming and cheering and hugging each other and standing on chairs and chanting "YES WE DID" and crowd-surfing a life-size cardboard cutout of Obama.
We were all calling friends and being called and cheering as we listened to Obama's acceptance speech (and being Swatties, pointing out references to Dickens and MLK) and running around outside and some of us drinking beer and cheap champagne out of bottle. Singing and chanting and screaming and being SO HAPPY and then a moment of silence and then SCREAMING again.
Sixteen Feet sung the national anthem, right before Obama's speech, and for the first time hearing it felt really, truly good. The future might not be so bad, after all.
Good night.
