I've sort of dreaded getting a job for many years now, and have bounced between wanting one and not wanting one. So between having difficulty finding a job and a lack of real desire for one it's taken me 17 and a half years. However, I do finally have a job, at Burgerville. So far I have found that work is, well, a lot of work, but also that it's satisfying knowing that by sacrificing a few hours here and there, and a little bit of dignity, I'm earning money. (Also, fast food bathrooms are really icky.)
Last Saturday I went to Prom with Melissa, which was a lot of fun. We ate dinner at Jake's Grill(where they tricked us into fancy Italian water), which had really good food and a nice atmosphere. We learned that wearing prom dresses is fun up until the point where the tulle starts to dig into your flesh, and that the Crystal Ballroom is really cool and has an amazing bouncing floor.
Tomorrow night at Portland State University they're having a queer prom at 8:00. I'm catching a ride with Teal and meeting up with Maura when we get there. Maura and I threw together a sort of Harajuku style outfit for me to wear, but then went for a twenties look for herself(complete with a fedora). So off to celebrate with the queers, and hopefully this year there'll be less techno.
Well I'm off to toil away for the fast food industry (and hopefully get my first paycheck!). Feel free to come and make it more difficult for me!
