Today is my first day of peace and real rest after the move. But its pretty much done now. A few things need to be moved or attended to, but in general, finita!! Even the wall decor is hung and the outdoor extras are placed just so. It feels good to be settled in.
For the first few days, though-- I was terribly twitchy. Just not feeling like this was "my" place or something I suppose. I guess we all need to have time to make a domicile a real home. I don't think it'll take as long HERE since we're still in the same place, just over a bit from where we were to begin with. We still have the nice view and access to the land we loved to begin with, so I'm sure it'll feel normal to be here soon.
If you missed it, some photos of the painted walls can be found here:
lucretiasheart.livejournal.com/763042.html Meanwhile, the wind and rain competed with wind and sun as front after front rolled through, spit some storm down, and then rolled on. But every time the sun peeped down I came out to greet it and just bask in that lovely bright light. How I've missed being outdoors! There's a point where cabin fever takes over and any excuse to go outside is welcomed.
I am getting eager for planting time. This weekend, we're picking up some starter stuff and seeds and such. I long for an excuse to hang outside for hours at a time. That's why I don't mind the work of gardening as much as perhaps I otherwise would: I like having a reason to be outside and not look crazy. It seems like just walking around in contented circles makes some uncomfortable or something-? But if you seem engaged in something productive, you're left alone. Yay!
Oh-- and I found out more about our new neighbor! For one, she moved from the north-facing unit to the west one-- our old townhouse!! I'm glad she got it because then she's sharing the huge back yard with us AND I don't have to feel totally cut off from our last home (I really rather loved the other townhouse, it was Gerick who had objections.) Plus, it makes it more likely that she'll stay long term for several years just like we will. Also--? We spoke to her at length at one point and she told us she's pagan (check,) and artistic (check,) educated (check,) and deeply spiritual (check!) I could tell by talking to her that she was intelligent and discerning-- and my intuition that she and I would end up good friends someday soon was confirmed. So it seems my few-seconds first impression of her was RIGHT ON despite the fact she wasn't wearing or doing anything that would give any of the above mentioned characteristics away. Moreover, after Gerick's dream about a "sea turtle coming to live in our town"-- he asked her what her current totem animal was (without telling or even hinting at his dream) and guess what she said?-- "Sea Turtle." Its pretty obvious this woman is meant to be here, and that lovely synchronicity is greatly reassuring to me at a deep level.
Now-- if only I could remember her name!
