So, I accepted a part time job as a massage therapist at a place in Burien called Fun Time Tanning (a tanning bed place - how ironic). The owners are two sisters who just bought the business about a month ago. I'll just be working Saturdays to begin with and only four massages a day till I get my stamina up. It's a nice space ~ themed rooms for tanning (jungle, beach, camping etc) and quite a clientele. They used to have a massage therapist but the previous owner just kinda let that fall to the wayside.
I have built in clients from their clientele of approx 600 per month (not sure how many of that will be interested in massage, but we'll see.) There's a closet in the treatment room that is next to the bathroom which would make a great shower eventually (so I can do body treatments). I met with Debbie (their mom) and one of the sisters (Alisa) on Wednesday and they seem totally into whatever I want to do. Since they really don't know the massage side of the business, it's like having my own business and making decisions on my own about how to run that side of things. They are painting the room this weekend from lime green to soothing blue and I should be able to decorate Sunday.
I also got a call back today for a second interview from a law firm in the Seattle Design Center for a receptionist/admin assistant position. They do union cases for the police and fire departments. I interviewed on Monday and think it went really well and just got a call for a second interview on Tuesday with the lawyers I'll be working with. The person in the position is leaving on August 13, so they want to hire someone right away and begin training. I really hope I'm offered the position. It's in Georgetown which means no bus commute !
Tonight is The Dark Knight with Terri and gang at this place called The Big Picture.
