Camelot picspam and random opinions. Part 1 of episode 1x01.
At beginning of the episode we see Morgan and Uther, daughter and father. Morgan is a very daddy issues and she really heats Igraine.
Morgan is very angry because Uther locked her in a nunnery for years. An angry Morgan is a dangerous Morgan.
Oh, and a bit of over-acting-like-hell.
"Don't turn your back on me, father." I loved how her voice broke at the end because of the angst and all the contraddictory feelings.
Oh, Uther, you're in trouble. Didn't you read the script? Never turn your back on your magical and angsty and angry daughter. Never.
And then we see Merlin running because Morgan is very very angry and she decides to poison Uther and Merlin had a vision of it. YAY! Uther was unsufferable and I was all for Morgan.
Morgan is a shapeshifter, we can easily see.
I liked the shapeshifting magic, it wasn't easy. I mean, it didn't give you the idea of an easy typical fantasy magic.
This is my favourite part of the episode. Morgan is so full of emotion. She hates Uther but she loves him too because he is still her father.
Merlin is as unsufferable as Uther. While Uther is dying, Merlin makes him put his sign on a paper that says that Arthus is his heir.
Igraine was wonderful.
I really loved the theme (is this the English word? I mean the musical entrance that every tv show has). I loved th music also if I found it a little off with the idea of arthurian legends, maybe a too modern music.
Just after the lovely theme we see Arthur talking in latin. And naked. With a blond lady. Arthur says some idiotic sillyness about worship and studying latin.
Luckily it's a very short scene because the two lovers are discovered by Kay, Arthur's brother. And yes, the blond lady is actually Kay's girlfriend.
Then SLASH HAPPENS.
Kay: "You bastard" and then he hits Arthur.
They fight a little.
Arthur seems quite pleased. They seems to enjoy themselves, actually.
Kay doesn't even look at the girl, his eyes are all for Arthur.
(Kay is hot. Yes. Finally.)
Let me show you this lovely scene. It seems an after-sex moment but they actually fought. Even a not-slasher can hear the slash in the air. Kay is more concerned about Arthur's fidelity and about the girl (she doesn't even have a name).
Kay: "I should kill you"
Arthur: "How did you find us?"
Kay: "I know where you bring your girls"
(Kay, where are you looking at? *second pic, first line*)
They return home because there is a visitor for Arthur. But before entering they talk a little. About feelings.
Arthur: "We can't let a woman come between us."
And then: Merlin is the visitor.
Merlin is over acting like hell. Spamalot would be proud of him.
Kay's mother says that Merlin is not welcome in their home and Kay feels that Merlin is a threat to Arthur so he takes his sword, ready to protect his little brother.
Merlin explains that Uther is dead and Arthur is his only son.
I think this scene came out quite well. Arthur was totally in denial (he also attacked Merlin accusing him of being a liar) and I am a woman in love with cliché so I liked to watch Arthur asking his adoptive parents to tell Merlin that the wizard is wrong. I especially appreciated the lost look on Kay's face.
Merlin: "Rest tonight. Tomorrow we'll leave."
Uther is dead. Morgan has the power also if nothing is official. She obliges Igraine to go into exile and she calls King Lot into her castle.
They make an alliance. And they have a lot of wild sex.
I didn't like the over acting of James Purefoy (as Lot) at the beginning but his characters is wonderful. He has the best lines.
While Morgan and Lot talk, Arthur and Merlin discuss about Arthur's heritage. Merlin is enigmatic and he always smile.
In the morning Arthur talks with Kay. And slash happens. Again.
Kay: "They [Their parents] treated you like you were special... because you are."
Kay: "Hey, this doesn't change anything. You're still my brother."
(Please, kiss already).
Young and innocent Arthur decides to follow Merlin and sees for himself what will happen. Arthur hug his mother and his father.
And then slash happens. Again. Because the show loves us.
Arthur: "You gave me everything in my entire life and I feel guilty for asking for anything more but... I need Kay. I want him to come with me."
Arthur and Kay hug and Kay kisses Arthur's neck. Lovely.
The rest of the episode is a little less interesting but for the interactions between Arthur and Morgan.
However, Arthur, Merlin and Kay leave.
Part 2 next week!
