slugs on my patio, as the winter approaches
we lifted up the mat on my patio at the back door to find that underneath there were hundreds of apparently rejected bits of bird seed (from the feeder i bought at walmart) that hangs on the glass door. some of the pieces had begun to rot. and a piece of corn had sprung roots! broom in hand, preparing to sweep off the patio, we noticed 2 worms writhing in the mess. i lifted them with pine needles and carried them to the dirt, but i have little hope for them. worms covered in bird seed are like bird candy.
