The last "10th planet", Sedna, was discovered more than a year ago...

Anyway... another excuse to post more space-related photos/pictures. :o)

*urge to watch something space-o-riffic*

Me'thinks, dearest frankanator (or anyone else who may one day watch a movie with me), we could find some common movie-watching ground in a sci-fi film like Gattaca... Solaris... etc. (love/romance stories that happen in space, or space films that have an underlying love story). Maybe Bladerunner to an extent, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and others as well. I think you already said that you liked Contact. The problem with most of these nowadays is they go overboard on special effects and underboard with the writing/acting (Star Wars 1 and 2, for example... I haven't seen the 3rd one yet, so don't tell me about it!). One particularly underwhelming effort was that "Mission to Mars" movie from a few years ago with Gary Sinise and Tim Robbins. It had all the potential in the world to be a really important/epic piece of sci-fi leading into real-life missions to the red planet. No such luck:

Anyhoo, if the powers that be are listening... please pretty pretty please daddy, let there be a really good film version of The Martian Chronicles made??

Ah, and also... sadly... in other news... appears the shuttle has been put on hold yet again due to more parts falling off during launch. It may be just as well... the existing shuttles desparately need to be replaced. Fortunately, as of late, the private sector has made some amazing design-contributions to the effort:

And finally... twas the nephew's 5th birthday today. :o) Happy birthday, kiddo!
