A little political, a conservative comment, sent me over the edge of reason... I know....

First of all: It's not about being a Democrat and losing the election. It's about being an AMERICAN and LOSING OUR RIGHTS ( Read more... )

I respect your opinions on this, of course, and you do make some valid and good points. Like I said earlier, I'm perfectly fine with disagreeing, as long as you can back up your claims, and in your case you have. And it is true, everyone does hate the opposite party these days, that's what makes it a party I suppose... but that's not the objective, now is it? Too bad... and it's getting worse. It's up to us to make sure it doesn't escalate to all out conflict in the future. I'm hopeful that we can work it out. As for the rigged election comment, I'm not going to go partisan debate here, because we all know that never gets anywhere, but suffice it to say that I take issue with the "FACT" that "polls are run and owned by republicans". It wasn't Bush who was supposedly "winning the election in a landslide in exit polls" at 8:00 PM Nov. 2nd. But he ended up winning the actual election... whatever. The point is I highly doubt that he won DUE to rigging, if anything it is my opinion that detracted from the winning margin. But I'll concede it just to avoid a shouting match.

As for how Bush is for all Americans when he is against gay marriage, he has actually SAID that he is for civil unions, just as our good buddy and pal Kerry, but he is NOT for changing a 2500+ year old definition because a little birdy.. I mean activist *cough* commie *cough* judge, told him to. I do think gay people are American, and I do think that they can even be valid Christians as well. But it's still a sin. Of course, some of the words that come out of my mouth are sins too, so obviously I can't condemn them for what they may / may not be able to control. But that's only the religious side of it for me. I think that if they are truly in love with another of their gender, then they can get a civil union and all that good stuff. Heck, they can still have a ceremony... it just won't be a "marriage" as defined by... well, the definition. As for one group Kerry ISN'T for... gee... let me think... pretty much anyone that has gotten somewhere in life on their own? He wants me to pay my hard earned cash in extra taxes, and pay 99% of them instead of 97%, because quote "we need to socialize healthcare, and fix Social Security". Alright, well, let's see. Socialist healthcare fails, and Social Security is clearly going down the tube, as anyone who takes a look at the numbers can see. Social Security is DYING people!!! We cannot sit around and wait for it to completely croak like we did with a certain Arafat character... we need to take action. Either privatize it (gee there's a concept, privitization = more jobs = boost economy & save Social Security or at least come up with an alternative!) or start looking for other options. And don't get me started on welfare for the people that'd rather just sit around. And yes, I am fully well aware and concede that there are people who are trying. It is my full belief that they will succeed. But not if we enact stuff that only hurts our economy.

As for the war, suffice it to say that it is a new kind of war. "Gotten out of control" does not define 1,000 soldiers dead. That would classify many "small skirmishes" in WWII as "gotten out of control". This war will get bigger, and we MUST FIGHT IT!!! I cannot stress this point enough. Also, the ammunition you are referring to has basically been proven to have been removed BEFORE we invaded. That's why you're not hearing about it anymore in the media: They don't want to have to admit that they lost that one to the web.

And I never generalized that all democrats burn the flag. If I thought that, I wouldn't be talking to you or Emily right now, now would I ? The people that do this are the far left, my point is that the far left is growing. Very rapidly. And the consequences of not doing something scare me.

2nd part follows:

"Mission Accomplished" means we removed Saddam, at least for me. If you think that was supposed to mean "Fatality, Flawless Victory, BUSH WINS" concerning the whole war on terror, then I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you. But Fallujah was a HUGE victory!!! The terrorists have had major casualties inflicted, whereas the US had few in proportion to the scope of the offensive. The terrorists, by the way, have taken to calling the US soldiers "Different than the last ones (presumably the last major offensives in the area, or in other parts of Middle East for foreign fighters), they bring death wherever they go, they are deathwalkers." I'd say we're having the terrorists think twice at this point, or at least some of them.

Immigration is a huge problem that I honestly don't know enough about on either side. There's probably whole books out there: I haven't read them yet. Suffice it to say that no one has done a good job here: neither Clinton nor Bush, nor anyone prior.

And of course, you are just as much an american as I am, never said otherwise. And those are indeed the rights we are fighting for, all the way to the extreme rights giving the protestors the ability to burn that flag in the first place. They are unalienable, and we will continue to fight for them as such.

It was a pleasure talking, as always, and hopefully we'll have another discussion soon.

Oh, and Emily, lemme know how Pain and Torture goes for ya.
