I was unsure as to why Beth wanted me to contact this woman in the first place, being that she stood Beth up for a meeting that SHE set up over the summer. But, gotta do what the boss lady wants! So I called up Claire and had her come in to talk about Art-to-Go.
She was very nervous and trying to be very professional. Pant suit, brief case, overly enthusiastic for the job in question. Getting hired is very laid back for an Art-to-Go position. It goes something like this: Are you fairly normal? Yes. Hired.
I didn't really want to hire her but she had been a sub and seemed into it and Beth seemed to want it to happen so... there she was. I set her up to spend many days observing other instructors... and today was finally her first day.
How did she do? Well, she didn't show up.
All this after sending me a confirmation e-mail (unnecessary), calling me to make sure she had all of the necessary supplies for today (also unnecessary but I'll let that slide since she was probably nervous about her first day), and confirming yet again on the phone that she was to teach at 9:15 am.
I wake up this morning with missed calls and voicemails from both the school and Beth wondering why no one had showed up. I call Claire. She went to the wrong school. Really? The schedule isn't hard to read. Find your name, find the date/time/school/lesson. Do it.
So, she's fired and she didn't even have a real first day.

UPDATE: She sent Beth and I both and e-mail trying to defend herself saying that the dates for Terrace View changed multiple times and she thought that applied to today. Well homegirl, the schedule for today said Boyd... and that never changed.
