Day erm, oh fuck I've no idea. Week six of ickyness.

After five weeks of hell of no shampoo or conditioner and using nothing but bicarbonate of soda and apple cider vinegar and the occasional essential oil on my hair I was ready to give up. The greasiness refused to go away and it was still itchy. I thought I'd give it one last go and decided to increase the concentration of the bicarb. It worked! ( Read more... )

One word of advice? Make sure to always keep the steroid lotion out of your eyes and ideally off your face. (Nasty side-effects if over-used or applied to eyes. Really nasty. You don't want to go there. OK?)

Thanks for that.

I do remember enough medical school stuff to keep it off my face. (Only had to use a steroid cream on part of my face once when I got eczema on my eyelids. I hate my body.) The lotion is really easy to apply and as long as you keep your head tilted back it doesn't run onto your face. A tiny little bit got onto my forehead the first time I used it but that was it. I wash my hands afterwards and don't touch my head until it has dried. It's only a three week course and if it doesn't stop the itchiness then we'll try something else. When I do get eczema it usually responds pretty quickly to steroid creams.

Congrats on persevering. Takes a while for it to work, but it's really worth it.

Unfortunately it's a bit greasier than I'm happy with today despite washing it in the afternoon. I think I may need a tiny bit more bicarb in the water. It's nowhere near as bad as it was thank goodness but it still looks bad in my opinion.
