A little late...

Sunday night I was the Dierks Bentely concert, and when he played "What Was I Thinking".. It made me think of Tennis, mainly senior year Tennis, and even more important Tabby!!

Each year during Tennis season, brought new experiences to my life, from winning three hour three set tie breaking matches in dreaded august weather, to verbal wars with my partner--oh man freshman year to running up and down vet's hill, and to the community center and back got to love conditioning! One of our two seniors got mono and was out for the rest of the season.. And who can forget finishing off our summer with 7-10am practices and another 2-3hour practice in the afternoon as well..

Sophomore year, brought along, lack of coaching, but an increase of winning-go figure, and championships-or at least that's what the shirts say, and being scared of a few teammates because of how many fights they got into, our new moto being--"if we don't beat you on the court, we'll beat you in the parking lot"--which may have carried on into other all saints sporting events, there was also the increas of the "junior 6"--one of coaches included, and though there was animosity, a lot of running, and poking eyes out with carrots, I wouldn't have traded it for anything.

Junior year, new coaches, new players of all ages, once again we're a new team, we're coming off a great season, trying our best to dupiicate it. Our uniforms came from Victoria Secrets, that pretty much explains our season.. One of our teammates ends up dating our assistant coach, was that end of season or post season--who can rememember.. Things are completely changing, but we're now becomming one big family. No one wants to leave Coach's house, because we're always welcome there. First game of the season, I of course get injured, my role for the team changes, I become number one supporter. I take my job with huge confidence, infact my two freshmen of the year--are still making proud to this day.. Sorry ladies you'll always be freshmen in my eyes! When I finally got back to playing, I didn't trust my partner--on or off the court, and totally dominated her pinco lameness, but we won, and coach will forever be known as Coachy Coach!

Senior year, by far the most sad, knowing that it all soon was going to come to an end. Not high school, but tennis. When we were all sad, about the soon to be ending family, 4 new freshies came into our lives, but one in particular brightened our days. The one and only Tabby! To this day, I can see her on that court at Delta, using her racquet as a guitar singing "what was I thinking" and I still laugh. Tabby was definiitely the comic relief of the season, everyone loved Tabby, and as much as Coachy Coach wanted to yell at her sometimes, he could never stay mad at her, it just wasn't possible, not with her. She is the inspiration for this live journal, and since it is her senior year, and she wasn't able to play this year, because she switched schools, but she's a powerhouse, a fast learner, and one of the best doubles players in my book!

Kelly, you were predominantly my doubles partner for the four years, with the exception of Jenna Mae, Amber, Melinda, Liz, Katie, --I'm sure I'm missing a ton.. But you were my favorite, and i think we did our best together. Yeah, I know I'm definitely being pretty remisining and emo here, but sometimes we just need that. When you're home from spring break, I hope that we get a chance to go the courts and play, and maybe go visit Coachy Coach because it's been awhile!

Tennis girls--leave any comments you have from your years, if you want!

Peace

Rachel
