Seattle Trip & More

Wow, it’s been entirely way too long since I’ve written an update or even read LJ for that matter.

It appears as though I was going to talk about my Seattle trip over Labor Day last time I wrote in here. To sum it up, it was awesome. Seattle is absolutely amazing, and when you have a friend who lives smack in the middle of downtown in a super nice condo within walking distance from all the major attractions and nightlife district, makes it even better. Highlights include

1. Shopping and eating at the famous Pike’s Place Market. This is right on the pier where you can watch them throw and catch those huge fish along with browse in hundreds of shops. Ate fresh smoked salmon which was impeccable.

2. Visiting the first Starbucks which is in Pike’s Place Market and buying their original blend of coffee beans only sold there along with awesome mug and pumpkin frap.

3. Spending way too much money at Lush with Andrea.

4. Touring the Museum of Flight where I got on the original Air Force 1 and The Concord which is the Queen’s former plane. I totally loved this museum!

5. Going up to the top of the Space Needle where it was freezing and checking out the festival below.

7. Taking a narrated harbor cruise along Elliott Bay and eating crab corn chowder.

8. Seeing the Black Eye Peas in concert at the Bumber Shoot Music Festival.

9. Walking along the waterfront of Elliott Bay in the Sculpture Garden and taking in the beautiful weather, fresh air, and sounds of the seagulls.

10. Eating a very fancy dinner at the swanky Branzino’s restaurant where executive chef Ashley is a current contestant on the t.v. show Top Chef. Absolutely phenomenal 4 course dinner!

11. And of course all of the bar hopping at various establishments in the entertainment and university district!

There was only one little accident that occurred which landed me in the emergency room and got me 5 stitches. Got a nice little gash on my eyebrow from running into the long rusty bow sticking out of a massive tour guide vehicle. Luckily I had some nice people witness the accident and took me to the hospital. I believe they were my guardian angles.

While the trip was fun, I learned something’s about myself and that is that I don’t know if I could ever take a trip with me and 4 of my closest guy friends for a week. Not growing up with any siblings didn’t prepare me for sharing close living quarters with that many people for that long. Not to mention that it was just too much testosterone. Still, I was so happy to have gone and gotten to experience another fun and beautiful city in this great country we live in.

Some other fun stuff that has happened since I last wrote was that one of my best friends from grad school came back to visit for a weekend with her friend, and we had so much fun going clubbing and tail gating together. I’m always sad when she leaves cause she’s lots of fun.

Recently, I’ve been trying to make more friends and challenge myself to go to meet up events where I don’t know anyone to expand my social network opportunities. Happy to report that all 3 of them have been very successful. Mostly, have found these events on Yelp.com which I’m obsessed with. I have a profile up on Meetup.com but haven’t gone to any of those events yet with the interest groups I have joined. Plan on doing it soon though. The book club was really fun and the two happy hours were also great as I met quite a few people.

Now the job hunt continues! Will write about my greatest accomplishment in life after I go get something to eat.
