I am not totally sure, but I believe that I haven't gotten any 2011 albums this year besides the Drive soundtrack and my friend's band Eldergaad's CD. What the hell is out that is good? Do you have a suggestion that I might like ( Read more... )

i don't try to keep up with new music, but i heard that "rolling in the deep" on a car radio, and i thought it was something from the 70s.

I do kind of dig that song, but I've been shying away from Adele just because of the sheer amount of insane hype around her. Maybe I'll check it out?

yeah, i'm utterly unaware of the hype. i know it's still selling a lot, but that's as much as i've heard of it. but if you want recs from thirty years ago, i'll have all sorts of things for you!

I just have a bunch of the mixes you were making for awhile in my music, all labeled with your name so they're grouped together. And it is indeed eclectic!

i recently bought both her albums & i dunno, she's an outstanding vocalist & there are some great torch songs & all... but i almost never am in the mood to listen to them. i mean they would be all kinds of the shit if you were going through a break up but otherwise they're just kind of sad. it's weird, i used to listen almost exclusively to super sad music but i find now i can only tolerate it in small doses.

i realize this is not answering your question. i can't think of any 2011 albums, sorry!

I do keep hearing that all Adele's songs are some intensely sad shit.

I take all this as a sign that I am old and no longer remotely hip. I spend all my time shrinking away from the new, hot music, avoiding most live shows, and bleating, "Meeeeh, it's far too cold out, and the bar will be so crowded! I'll just stay home!" Now, the long, slow march towards death begins!
