Now that it's firmly Autumn (October - yikes!), I'm finally getting around to my summer recap. Two years ago, me and some friends decided to have
Best Summer Ever. While there was nothing wrong with last summer, this summer was declared Best Summer Ever 2: Son of Best Summer Ever by
aquavator. And thus it began.
C and I made a list of fun stuff we wanted to accomplish and then set about getting them done. We actually have done this for three summers in a row and also for some winters too (and I've mentally made a Best Fall Ever list this year!). Here are some of the things we managed to get accomplished this summer in the name of fun.
Food/booze
shabu shabu / fondue dinner (complete with... mock abalone...which was due to a snafu at the Asian market)
Old Country Buffet breakfast
Olive Garden lunch featuring all-you-can-eat soup, salad and breadsticks (I know, we're weird)
fancy beers at the Muddy Pig
fancy beers at Stub and Herb's (we made a special trip for the Flat Earth Cygnus X-1 Porter infused with "s'mores" flavor)
make dinner for friends
BBQs
potlucks
beer night (where everyone brings a large fancy beer to share)
breakfast at Al's
toured a brewery (Flat Earth)
Roadtrips
roadtrip to Willmar for the 4th of July
-fireworks in Spicer
-World's Largest Ball of Twine (made by one man)
roadtrip to Stillwater (for a wedding)
-watched the lift bridge
-walked around the stores in town and bought some olde timey candy
-strolled the Hudson River
roadtrip to Wisconsin Dells
-Noah's Ark Waterpark!!!!!!!!
assorted fun
Como Zoo
bike ride to State Fair
St Paul Saints game (minor league baseball in MN is so weird it's basically avant garde performance art)
MN Twins game (C did not participate - went twice with my dad)
Farmer's Market (about 3/4 weekends this summer I hit up one market or another)
Epic Birthday Week
porch-sittin'
karaoke INCLUDING Korean karaoke
D&D and board games
bike rides
exotic animal racing and horse racing at Canterbury Downs
This is by no means an exhaustive list of fun - just some highlights!
Already this Fall we did a roadtrip back to the Wisconsin Dells and HOUSE ON THE ROCK! But that's another entry.
