A small puddle of slightly dried blood had already formed beside her white sneakers now flecked with crimson droplets. The cuts and tears on her hand still bled occasionally and small shivers of glass had embedded itself in the pale skin of the back of her hand and fingers. She stared uncomprehending at her smashed in reflection. Blood and shards and cracks everywhere. With irony she thought that thats how a broken heart must look like. Torn to shreds.
How she wished such agony would have forever been unknown to her. One foolish moment and everything fell apart, crumpled like a house of cards. Just like the retard everyone thought she was she said the wrong thing but instead of laughter she earned a sharp glare and bitter words. Spoken with finality and a hiss. Stunned she had been rooted to the spot long after the other was gone. Ignoring the bell and everyone around her. Blood had rushed to her head and she felt faint and in the next moment she had stood in a unoccupied restroom her fist smashing in a mirror.
That was 30 minutes ago. Still she couldn't bring herself to leave. Her hand ached with every heartbeat, how it still beat was a mystery to her, but alas its presence assured her she was alive if barely. She didn't know why she punched the mirror, she wasn't a violent person per se. She abhorred hurting anyone and anything, but something just snapped inside her. Used to bottle everything up, smiling in the face of adversary, ignoring hurtful commentaries and despising whispers it felt liberating to let it all out. But now she literally stood before the shards of her existence. Lost and confused. Without her home.
"Home is where the heart is, but what do i do now that mine has fallen apart?" she whispered, choking on the last words. Tears she had tried so hard not to cry started falling down her cheeks. She tasted the saltiness on her lips.
Pathetic.
"Stupid."
Anger.
"Stupid!"
Without much conscious effort she had lifted her fist again ready to punch. Reflected back multiple times she saw herself. Blonde hair normaly in a tidy ponytail looked wild and messy, brilliant blue eyes now red and desperate and a mouth on which you on any ordinary day saw a smile was pressed in a tight line. She closed her eyes exhausted she just wanted the pain to stop.
Resignation.
"Stupid..."
With that her fist crashed into the mirror.
