I waited and I paused,
for folks of mine on the "Fin de Ano"
I stood there embellishing myself
with the three "E"s
expectations, excitement ,eagerness
Pondered on what gifts would this "MMXI" gift me?
New year eve in a desert camp!
Exciting indeed!
The day went by with all the packing and stacking,
And finally we set out through the darkest night ,
hunting for our shelter
that  had promised us some warmth.
Gone were those fears as we spotted our tiny little tent.
Warmth crept up as the aroma of the barbecued chicken
inflated our one - day home
and not to forget the tapioca soaked in fish curry
Yummy were those dishes, 
that brought us a big grin.
The laughter that flew along with the chilly wind
while we tried ourselves on
the swings, trampoline and  foosball.
Unbalanced footsteps tapped on the dancing frozen earth
that were completely out of rhythm
yet sweet and melodious.
Fireworks sparkled up in the sky,
as the clock stroke 12!
Kisses, hugs ,wishes
shared as tokens of love
and a silent prayer I whispered
as I faced the new rising sun
Here I am , Oh Lord !
ever ready to trade my hurt , pain and tears
for a new hope , love and pain
in this new year "2011"
