Even in the darkest hour know that it will pass. And by the nature of it being something that will indeed pass, know that we are temporal beings, our nature, our feelings, our experiences are beyond time and its temporary events. You can say it is all Maya. Or you could just rise above the immediate and enjoy the show - watching yourself ride the crests and the troughs of life experiences, of emotions. Know that every trough will bring a crest. And vice versa.
In those dark moments, turn as much as you can to the light. Telling yourself, even if your heart cannot understand it, that it WILL pass. See beautiful images of nature. Go to the park to see little children play. Do some exercise. Listen to some good pumping music. All of these things should help lift the spirit, at least just enough for you to realize that even your emotions are your choices to some extent. The more you assert these as choices, the more they become controllably choices. And the more they become choices, the more you can begin to make them, determining what you want to feel, rather than feeling whatever they dictate.
Good that you're out of the pit. Stay on the hill!
