Golden brown sand,
A heavy built castle,
Deep dark chambers,
A "thookku vilakku" hung upon to brighten a tiny room.
Here I am placed ,
lifeless on a bed of rose buds.
Buds that were forbidden to bloom!
Cast under the spell by the fragile goddesses,
a sleeping beauty I was transformed into.
Days ,
Months ,
Years rolled along.
And today the neelakurinji would bloom!
He stood there , my valiant warrior,
leaving behind the darkness of the night ,
through the vicious thorns,
he set foot into my chamber.
In a whisper he revealed to me his hidden secret .
The curse melting away as he kissed my soft lips.
With a smile I opened my eyes to see
my love ,
my twilight.
thookuvilakku :it means "hanging lamps" in Malayalam , used mostly in south India, Kerala.
