hahaha
Jews are the only group in which a majority of the people "completely disagree" with the notion of angels and demons being active in the world.
the only other groups that mostly disagree are hindu, buddhist, and "other."
its a wonder that this country functions so well with so many superstitious citizens.
it depresses me how while the republican party might not be here to stay, religion definitely is here to stay. its at least 5,000 years old, i don't think it's going anywhere. it just sucks that we already know it's an artifact of our frontal lobes, this attribution of natural phenomena to non-human powers. humans have the ability to question the mechanisms of life, and the tendency to become fixated on these mechanisms until they are properly understood. religion has been the answer since the beginning of humanity. only in the past few centuries has religion been questioned seriously.
old habits die hard.
it was funny, in my egyption religion class my professor (such a 30y/o milf) talked about how it was a given that the big bang was the most likely explanation for life. it amuses me that these days, there are people so wrapped up in the intellectual community that they forget about that other, majority community of non-intellectuals.
i dont forget about that other community, i merely fully discount its views, because those views are inherently not intellectual, and therefore not worthwhile to me in any way, except perhaps an artistic way. i don't believe things from people who have zero credentials for knowing those things.
(this is why i do not usually believe my government.)
