Today is Stellar's Birthday... )
And what's the groom tie ritual? We don't have it here and I like to learn new things from other countries! La Madre Patria! Yay! :D
The garter ritual, bleh. I hate it. So you have to go thru my explanation, lol, because I want you to understand why. The bride has lots of garters hidden under her dress. There's a moment at the party where they call the single women in the room, one by one. You have to walk to a chair, put one of your legs on it and the broom takes off a garter from the thig of the bride and puts it on your thig, generally lifting your dress or whatever as soon as possible so that men in the room can scream like unleashed wolves and then you feel as embarrassed as you can (unless you have the body of a goddess or you don't give a damn about it, which is not my case in anyway!)
I had an almost ugly experience in my last ritual. The broom was my friend so I was not feeling as bad about it, but it was her brother (unexpectedly and breaking the rules) who took after the "job". And he did it making the most disgusting faces and gestures and cries you can imagine, touching the legs of the women more than it's normal in these occasions.
It was so horrid that even lots of guys got annoyed and a friend of mine, a very young lad, he told me furiously: "That git won't touch your leg!!!" and he took me there and he put me the garter very gently. I was very grateful for that!!!

Here the bride's friends take her garter off and cut it into pieces. And the guys do the same with the groom's tie. Then they go around the tables selling the places and getting money for the couple. I prefer our version! Though lately seems to be not so much in use.
