You.Win.At.Life.

I love 28 Days Later and there simply isn't enough good fic out there. Let alone great fic.

Awesome. I'll come back later to add more wonderful comments.

Thanks! I had no idea there was an active 28 Days Later fandom. I think I'll look around and see what fics are out there. Thanks so much for reading :)

Selena could run, but she could never hide. Her skin wouldn't allow her to blend in. She had no choice but to fight.

Best line, hands down. I loved this movie and this was a great story. I loved the insight into Selena and her relationship with Jim. Loved the fic all around. Excellent work.

Thanks, BlackMamba. I love the movie too. I thought it was going to be another stupid zombie movie and was pleasantly surprised when I watched it. I love Selena/Jim, but I doubt they'd ever be together if not the outbreak, which makes me a little uneasy about them as a couple.

Thank you! I love this history for Selena. It fits her well.

Those who ran sometimes hid, using their skin to protect them. Chameleons, lizards, and some fishes. Selena could run, but she could never hide. Her skin wouldn't allow her to blend in. She had no choice but to fight.

Very insightful.

When Selena was fourteen her parents finally finished their classes, took positions in glass buildings in the city centre

Excellent. Every immigrant's goal. :P

You're welcome! I glad you enjoyed it. :)

You're so right about the immigrant goal. The pressure to be someone in a new country can be damn overwhelming sometimes.

I really, really loved this, I loved your characterization of Selena and her pragmatic approach to her relationship with Jim. Even better then I could have hoped, thanks for sharing this. :)

Thanks, Token :) I worried about making Selena too pragmatic because I do like Jim/Selena, but realistically I doubt they're having this grand romance. She does love him, I think, but her reasons for being with him are logical, if that makes sense.

God, this is good.

Seriously, I love that I can picture this as Selena's life story. She really is a survivor and the film gave the impression that she'd started doing so before the events of the film began. Great job. This is definitely going into my memories.

Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

I got the feeling too that Selena had been a survivor before the disease hit. The worse situations can make us very capable, as with Hannah's father, but Selena had embraced the kill or be killed motto long before, I think.
