ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER

GENERAL

[Name:] Valant Gramarye - at your service!

[Age:] 43

[Gender:] Quite Male!

[Marital Status:] Single! That is if he wasn't already married to his magic!

[Sexuality:] Straight, but of course.

[Occupation:] The Last Gramarye (aka: Magician)

CONNECTIONS

[Family:] Valant's family has vanished without a trace. He does not remember their faces very well and does not care to do so. All he remembers is his mother Mabel, and how she got him interested in the Gramarye troupe to begin with.

[Friends:] LOL VALANT HAS NO FRIENDS BECAUSE HE'S A YELLOW JERK B:

[Enemies:] Zak Gramarye: Valant is...unsure about his feelings towards his better partner and the official successor to the Gramarye secrets. On one hand he respects this man to some level, as his partner, yet at the same time blames him for all the misfortune Valant has fought through in the last several years. The man disappeared many years ago, and no one is even sure whether he is alive or not. Valant holds deep regrets to his actions, which in turn caused much strife for the vanished man and his daughter. Even in his disappearance, Zak has caused Valant strife of his own, as everyone believes that Valant killed his teacher and Zak was merely defending him. Not to mention Thalassa's death and the fact that he abandoned her daughter! Valant still holds a straggling belief that he was truly the correct heir to the Gramarye magic and cannot forgive Zak for taking it. That is, until he is declared dead within the next year.

Spark Brushel: A journalist who continues to snoop around his past, trying to uncover what happened to Thalassa. For some reason this irksome rat has been recently pestering him more than the usual and it’s getting on his nerves. It doesn’t help that Brushel considers himself a friend of Zak’s. He would like nothing more than to shove that toothbrush in his ear up the journalist’s…well you know…ass.

[Other:] Thalassa Gramarye: Sweet Thalassa. He isn't quite sure about his feelings towards her. The fair maiden of the troupe - Valant admits he had his eye on the woman for quite a while. She was actually one of the main reasons he held such a tight grudge towards his partner for many years. Yet since her murder he can hardly bear to even think of her. To think that his bullet could have been the one which killed her - the thought is quite a hardship to bear.

Thalassa's first child: He knew that Thalassa had a child with a now deceased Gramarye troupe member, but is unsure as to who he is and where he is. Valant can only hope his presence remains hidden, so that he does not have any competition for the rights to the magic.

Phoenix Wright: The blue-suited lawyer who made him look a fool during Zak's court procedures. He does not hold very nice feelings towards the man, but is grateful that he took in Trucy, after Zak selfishly left her behind.

Trucy: Thalassa's daughter. He has not seen her around much at all really. From what he has heard she has been adopted by the ex-blue suit lawyer who defended Zak several years ago. The fact that she was also spawned from Zak never sat well with him, but he forgives her - it isn't her fault her father was undeserving of such a blessing! He remembers how charmingly innocent the little girl was and hopes that she still regards him as an uncle of sorts.

Magnifi Gramarye: His passed tutor. He does not have anything more to say about the passed man, except for his two obviously foolish mistakes.

Angel Starr: His former employer at Lunchland, the two shared a…’close’ relationship. When she returned to work for law again he was fired - just like their relationship everything went up in flames.
No he did not set fire to the lunchland car I have no idea what you’re talking about!

CHARACTER

[General personality:] Valant is a very prideful man. He takes great stride in knowing how far he has come as a magician, even though he never had that natural spark for entertainment as a child. He doesn't have much preference as far as food goes - as long as it looks appetizing he will probably eat it no matter what it is. His favorite color is obvious yellow - shown off by the color of his hat and magician cape. The color yellow mainly came from his mother - she had blond hair and the way it stuck out was beautiful. So he decided to make yellow is favorite color and stick out to the entire world!

Due to his pride Valant tends to hold grudges against people. That isn't to say he completely hates them, save a couple, but he does get envious very easily. He usually ignores it, as envy is an ugly but warranted human emotion, yet other times that dark envy makes him do regrettable things.

[Appearance:] Pretty much the same as he is in AJ

[Background:] Valant Gramarye is obviously not his real name. His birthname is Maurice Epoz.

Valant can't remember his childhood too well after many years but does remember one detail: his mother Mabel. Mabel was always a gentle woman to him and was the reason he got into magic to begin with. His earliest memory was going to a street magic show with her, and watching the magician pull a rabbit from his top hat. He visited that magic show on the street every week from that point on, astounded by the feats of basic magic that the magician performed. After a couple shows he began attempting magical feats of his own - but found it was quite difficult to pull off tricks on his own.

His first successful trick was pulling a giant bouquet of flowers from the bottom of an empty vase - not a flower nor stem wrinkled or bent. It took over a year to do this trick in succession and while he did it there was a still a sense of not being able to do it as quickly as the street magician did. But his mother was astounded by his trick and seeing her smile made him go on to learn more tricks in his life, despite the long times it took for him to do so.

He graduated from high school but did not go onto college. Instead he continued to learn magic and even created new tricks of his own. He performed on his own until the day he auditioned to be Magnifi's new pupil. On that day he had to perform one great magical feat for Magnifi in order to be accepted. On the night before his audition he prepared a magnificent stunt, sure to blow the mind of Magnifi. When he went into audition though there was one other person. A woman, with long brown hair, who sat beside what he hoped, would be his future teacher. He didn't know who she was, but he was smitten. When the time came to perform the trick he placed the top hat he brought with him on the ground and with a wave of his hands a giant tree, branches adorn with different types of flowers, grew out of the hat. The problem - this was not the trick he intended to use. It was one of his older tricks.

Magnifi refused to let him retry, despite the error, and he was told to leave. He felt despair but before leaving he saw the women by Magnifi smiling brightly.

A few days later he was called in the evening, told that he had to change his name, as he had been accepted as Magnifi's pupil. He was elated at the acceptation, but now had to present a new name. After searching up good names on the internet via the search engine Google he came up with Valiant. Thinking the ‘i’ looked ugly he took it out and made it Valant.

A week later he met his new ‘family’, Maginifi Gramarye, the father, Thalassa Gramarye, the alluring female and Zak Gramarye - the irritating older brother. He would constantly practice with the last two and would always be praised for his work. His skills as a magician were considered far greater than Zak’s and he was considered the better of the two. However, his talent was not enough for one person. While he attempted to confess his feelings to Thalassa he found out earlier that Zak had proposed to her and she accepted.

The wedding was a closed ceremony in the troupe’s quarters. Some journalists were invited and any close relatives of Thalassa and Zak. Valant was picked as the best man, but knew that Zak was boasting to him. It was obviously his way of saying that Valant had the talent, but he had the girl. Since then Valant has maintained a mutual hate of Zak.

The years passed between them all. Trucy was born soon after the wedding, the troupe continued performing all across the country and life was good. Every day he would let his rabbits out to play with the little girl, knowing that it would make her and her mother smile. Secretly he hoped that Thalassa would one day see the error of her ways and take Zak for what he truly is and not at his…charismatic face value.

One day at practice, where they practiced their stunt routine and firing bullet. The bullets would never hit Thalassa. But something went wrong with one of the guns and it did hit her. Magnifi changed that day. Thalassa’s death brought a rage out in him like non-other. From that day they were forced to obey his commands, less he reveal what occurred. It was around that time that Brushel appeared and befriended Zak for whatever reason. If Valant had the choice he would have abandoned the troupe. To think that he could kill Thalassa was heart-wrenching. To think Zak did it made him want his partner gone.

A couple years passed and Magnifi became terminally ill. He was brought in to take a test with Magnifi, to inherit the rights to the magic. Valant was still considered the better of the two magicians and he was sure to receive the magical rights. His tricks were great, but combined with Magnifi’s he could easily become the most famous magician to ever grace the world! Despite his optimism it ended in misery. He was told Zak had come in earlier and passed the test - his appointment with the great magician was the latter of the two! Valant had so many questions left unanswered. A rage filled him, the seeds growing since Thalassa’s marriage to Zak.

The rage blossomed into a flower, with the sound of a gunshot from Magnifi’s room.

Zak’s trial was one huge blur to him. He made it so obvious that Zak was guilty, that the idea of suicide was impossibility. Yet perhaps he should have kept it that way - impossible suicide. At the end of the trial Zak had done the perfect vanishing act, doing more damage to his own family. Trucy was left without a father and entrusted to be cared for by Zak’s lawyer Phoenix Wright - on the basis that Wright was a good guy! He was her ‘uncle’ and she was entrusted to a complete stranger!

Since that day he had lost his position as a magician for a long while, what with his mentor and flower of his eye dead, his tenacious partner missing and the little girl who was growing up with the last name Wright. He stood out of the limelight, working remedial jobs such as a Lunchland vendor. Now, with only a year left until Zak is declared dead by the legal law, Valant has gone back to touring his magic and is currently doing small gigs around the west coast and overseas until his grand comeback performance, which he is currently planning.
