-Major Heists and Timeline-

*Moonlight Eye*
November, 1995
Not actually his heist; he'd found the hidden room and his father's legacy a week or so earlier, done some prep, and went out to catch whoever was apparently impersonating his father - and ended up catching up to Jii and finding out his father'd been murdered. He was the one that decoyed the cops away afterwards, and once they were suitably misdirected, launched himself off the top of the building with the hang glider.
It was his first time flying, and slightly complicated by the fact that the glider hadn't been modified yet from when his father'd used it, and especially at that age, his father'd been much taller and heavier than him.
Crazy? Naaah. Not him!

*Adam's Smile*
Feb. 23rd, 1996
Modern art painting of dubious "art" classification. This was one of his last heists that wasn't either a jewel or a prank/other agenda.
It was also the first heist Saguru showed up at. It's entirely likely Saguru was getting slightly humored by the cops, probably with some relief that at least on a Kid heist, he wasn't in as much danger as on a murder case.
Saguru was brilliant, figured out that Kid would be breaking in via a room everyone expected him to -avoid-, and waited there with a gas mask and a knockout-gas grenade.
Unfortunately, Kid managed to swipe the mask, and all he really succeeded at was giving Kid ideas; I'm sure the Task Force would thank him profusely later every time Kid evaded them via a well-timed smoke grenade, and that Saguru would regret it every time he ended up on the receiving end of one himself.

*Clock Tower*
March, 1996
A heist totally unrelated to anything, with a clock tower as its target -
And the entire point of the heist was to keep the clock tower he'd met Aoko at from being torn down in an underhanded business deal, and hopefully give some time for attention to fall on said underhanded deal.
Kaito ended up scrambling through this one flailing, as Kudo Shinichi had apparently gotten bored and decided to play mastermind for the cops.

Saguru wasted no times in piecing together Kid's admittedly ridiculously flimsy secret identity; with a complete lack of evidence to back up the "theory", he transferred into Kaito's school to begin stalking him.
This didn't cause any slowdown in his stupidly busy streak, although it did start the "Zim and Dib"-esque period in their relationship.

June, 1996 - Kaito's 13th birthday. You can hear Toichi getting grey hairs and facepalming from the grave...

*Blue Birthday*
Either August or September, 1996
Heist target was a large sapphire; during the heist, he got a mysterious phone call on a payphone, implying he was watched, speaking as if he had to already know what was going on, and apparently threatening consequences if he ignored this new warning.
Sadly for Snake, the assassin, the reaction was more of a manic grin and validation that he'd finally gotten their attention.
Dodged Snake ...relatively... easily enough, although there was a close call; thanks to a bit of trickery with a fake gem and a tracking device that had been intended to catch HIM, he ended up finding out about Pandora from them, and forcing Snake and his immediate superior to need to abandon a base.

*Green Dream*
Either August or September, 1996
Heist target was an emerald set in a ring being kept by a theatre company, used in an on-stage production.
This is about the period of time where Kid stabilized as a separate entity, and the differences between Kid and Kaito started being somewhat more visible, and noticeably "basic instinctive habits are different" rather than "Kaito being better at acting than people would expect".
And Kid ended up getting one of his first admirers from a heist thanks to being fluffy and encouraging at a young actress in the troupe.

Near-Death Experience
Late August or September, 1996
Whatever his heist target here was, I can't remember it in the blur of glittery objects during this year and a half, and that besides that he did return it when he recovered, it wasn't exactly a very important detail of this event.
Saguru was there, doing his usual tactic of figuring out Kid's most likely escape route and then lying in wait along it. He was a little behind on this, and Kid nearly got away without seeing him at all.
Unfortunately, Snake was also planning on lying in wait along his escape route, and Kid realized this just before he hit the glider.
Kid doubled back, getting there just in time to see the encounter between the assassin and the detective inevitably turn ugly; he managed to prevent Saguru from getting shot. Unfortunately, he did so by diving in to intervene, and ended up taking the bullet himself. He managed to stay conscious and functioning long enough to get Snake to chase him to the rooftop and to hit the glider; he crash-landed in a park not long after, and was scraped up by Jii, who somehow managed to get him to medical attention before he died.
This threw a certain equally stressed detective for about five kinds of mental loops of That's Not How Things Are Supposed To Work, and as soon as Kid was mobile, he ended up fussing over said detective.
They have a very odd relationship.

Needless to say, as soon as he got home his mother'd already gone through Toichi's old workshop, and greeted him with "Yes I know and I THOUGHT YOU'D ALREADY FOUND THIS" and threw a bulletproof vest at him.

November, 1996 - Shinichi had his infamous encounter and ended up becoming Conan the Puntable. Kaito was technically still recovering, with his mother hovering over him making damn sure he didn't do anything stupid, because she knew he would if she turned her back for ten seconds.

*Red Tear*
Late November, 1996
Technically still recovering from the bullet wound. Isn't he brilliant, folks?
At least he HAD learned to wear the bulletproof vest.
Technically he'd given up on the heist per se; the target was a large ruby broach owned by a magic company, whose previous head had been a friend of his father's. The daughter who'd inherited it was slightly embittered; after meeting her, while Aoko went to the show, Kaito refused to go, with the excuse likely have actually been that she'd insulted his father rather badly.
He already knew the gem wasn't Pandora, but went to run interference since Snake and co. were after it.
It was a good thing he wore the vest, since he did end up getting shot again; the vest made it so that instead of being dead, he was merely ignoring a lot of pain for the rest of the encounter, since getting shot -STILL HURTS- even with a vest, especially when you're still recovering from an -earlier- bullet to the chest.

*Golden Eye*
Early 1997?
A cat's eye gem, where Kid was competing against another thief, one Chat Noir from France. Given that, after some research, she would be the gem's "rightful owner", he handed it over after the heist. He ended up on good terms with Chat Noir, and while they didn't get to meet very often for a long time, they had a pretty good agreement that Kaito would give her info on any of the rest of the sets of Cat's Eyes (or deliver them to her), while she'd keep an eye out for any information on the Black Org or Pandora for him - as well as a mutual "always welcome in my city" and that he'd have a place to stay in Paris if he ever needed it.

*Nightmare*
Beginning in late May, ending in late June 1997..around his 14th birthday... for added insult to injury.
Actually two or three heists...
And kind of a lot of shock to the system.
Picked up a "partner" that didn't give him much choice, holding the people he cared about as blackmail, who was known as Nightmare, and infamous for tagging successful thieves, blackmailing them, splitting the take with them (another thing which annoyed KId, who always returned his heists), and then killing them. Nightmare turned out to be ... the same person as the Interpol agent who was ostensibly in charge of PURSUING Nightmare, and was pulling all of this to get the money for his small and incredibly sick son's medical bills.
They had a confrontation on a bridge/overpass over the Black Knight - a large opal - where Kid revealed that he knew who Nightmare was, and Nightmare was about to kill Kid for that and for being about done with him;
at that time, Aoko was in the area with Kenta, Nightmare's son. Kenta heard enough to ID his father's voice and called out, Nightmare had a flail moment and slipped, Kid barely caught him as he was falling off the bridge; Kid couldn't manage to get enough of a grip to save him, and Nightmare wouldn't drop the opal in his other hand to get a better hold and pull himself up. Nightmare ended up falling to his death, becoming, so far, the only person to die on a Kid heist, and just for added "Kid-issue-twitch", leaving behind an orphan just slightly younger than Kaito'd been. Kid used the card gun to snatch the mask off Nightmare's face just before Aoko, Kenta, and the cops caught up, without enough time to do much else, in the hopes that it'd look like the Interpol officer had interrupted Kid and Nightmare and Kid had tried to save him, rather than that he'd BEEN Nightmare and Kid had tried to save him.
This kinda went a long way toward cementing the "Nobody fucking dies ever again" twitch, and ... being a bit of a wakeup call/maturity thing of realizing just how far he'd gotten himself in and how bad things COULD get. Nevermind that he remembers Nightmare, and Nightmare's actual motives, and got renewed respect for that fine little line between where he was as a basically harmless criminal, and Nightmare.

It also led to quite a bit of a BSOD. Kaito shut down for a week, leaving Kid stuck dealing with classwork and day to day life and FLOUNDERING; Kid ended up slipping off to trauma-cling to Saguru for a couple nights, while as soon as there was a good opening, their mother caught Kid asking to talk to Kaito and managed to put enough pieces back together for Kaito to be - functional and recovering, if not "well" yet.

This's also where he started slowing down from @#$#@ five heists a month; he ended up on a hiatus after Nightmare collecting his thoughts and recovering, and never did end up at quite the stupidly manic pace he'd been keeping again. (That and the first "heists" after Nightmare were very clearly publically announced as setting things right, and involved retrieving and returning the heist targets Nightmare had sold.)

*Black Star*
August 1997
-first heist against Conan-

{And a few of the Detective Conan heists go here. Noting that Last Magician of the Century and Magician of the Silver Skies -are- part of his canon after a fashion! I'm fairly sure that the Sunset Manor has already happened for him.}

{Also during this time, he bugged the Hell out of Conan, as he'd picked up the habit of doing to ANYONE "of interest", and ended up finding out Conan was Shinichi. At some point after that, Conan figured out -his- identity, and figured out the significance of the people that were trying to kill him, and contacted him.
By which I mean he sent a very smarmy and prodding letter addressed to Kaito, written to Kid, picking apart their secret identity, then adding "I think we have a common enemy".
After some razzing back and forth, they've been vaguely cooperating under the table; among other things, Kid's agreed to see if he can't manage to get any further data on the original Apotoxin, as well as volunteering the idea of requesting Akako's help in case normal "natural" means aren't quite enough to cement a cure.
At this point, they technically COULD return Shinichi to normal, buuuttt... well... can of worms/instant target sign.}

Njord's Lantern
November 1998
Square-cut Iolite with a sort of silver "cage" setting meant to allow for easily using it to gauge light; on loan to a local museum, part of an exhibit on Viking legends.
Ends up in the City while outrunning the Task Force after grabbing it.
