I'm updating for a few reasons. It's about 5 on sunday. I have nothing else to do. Dinner is not ready. So here's my weekend.
I got home on friday and immediately got into the Xterra for some driving time, a whopping half hour. I took my mom to the grocery store so she could pay for all the food for the campout, which I'll describe later. I got home, I packed some clothes and stuff. I waited for about 15 minutes in the rental minivan before my dad finally drove me to the cabin.
Which we left and headed out towards Harper's Ferry. Two hours of listening to music and attempting not to sleep too much. No one exciting was in the car with me and my dad. We got to the camp site, I and a few other guys set up a tarp on the ground, and slept under the stars. Too lazy to set up and break down a tent.
Woke up on Saturday. Made bacon and pancakes. Ate bacon and pancakes. Packed lunch, and left. Arrived at nifty looking rock wall place. Counceler talked to us about harnesses and stuff. We climbed. I got to the top of three out of the four. That last one was a bastard. After we were done, Josh Steinburg still hadn't gotten to the top of any of them. So we're about to leave and, without harness or rope, he charges the wall and just starts climbing. Woo. The counceler grabs him down before he got out of reach. At this point, Josh procedes to kick the counceler. It was good stuff. After that we went to the actual town of Harpes Ferry, ate lunch, and proceded to climb the mountain.
People have authority issues, but other than that it was a nice climb. We got to the overlook and we overlooked the city, (imagine that!). It's a really nice view. A stunt plane randomly went by, and almost hit the water. I must assume that was his stunt. I don't know why. People still had authority issues on the way back down, so that one wasn't as enjoyable, but the hikes collectively were fun and scenic and stuff. We all got ice cream when we got back into town. Then we waited for a shuttle bus, and in the meantime ran up and down shear rock faces, and climbed dangerous looking cliffs. I even raced someone up part of the mountain. Good times. The bus got there, we went back to camp, we cooked dinner. Good dinner. Some people played CTF, I played guitar with Alan and Cole. Some people got in trouble for flirting with girls, (it was a public campsite) I tended the fire. I also read about 23 pages in Light in August. I should probably get to more of that, but on with the story.
I ate some more stuff, then went to bed. Woke up today and helped younguns cook bacon and french toast. Then, I made some of my signature scrambled pancakes (ask me later), and everything was good. I packed, I ate, we left, I'm home and clean. Spiffy. Now I'm just waiting for people to get online, and for dinner.
Peace,
