Stolen from Pfahn...
As was demonstrated in an interview with Katie Couric, Sarah Palin is unable to name any Supreme Court Case other than Roe v. Wade.
The Rules: Post info about ONE Supreme Court decision, modern or historic, to your lj. (Any decision, as long as it's not Roe v. Wade.) For those who see this on your f-list, take the meme to your OWN lj to spread the fun.
Mine has to do with Feminism, but on a whole different level than Roe v. Wade.
Reed v. Reed (1971) challenged the constitutionality of an Idaho statute that required that males be preferred to females as administrator of estate for those who die intestate (ie. die without a will). Although, this ruling did not rule that sex was a suspect classification, it concluded that the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment prohibited unreasonable classifications based on sex. So, in other words according to the 14th Amendment and this ruling, you can't make laws that discriminate against a person based upon sex.
