You know, I'm not normally one to complain to a company, but Sirius radio has pissed me off. Maybe I wouldn't be so ticked off if I hadn't been so happy with them before. Why'd they have to go and cancel my favorite channel?
Here's what I just sent them:
I am very disappointed in your decision to discontinue the punk channel. I realize that you are going to tell me that punk music can still be heard on Faction and I want to forestall that.
For most of my listening time Faction broadcasts talk shows such as Jason Ellis and Bam Margera, which, while I enjoy them, are hardly appropriate for my kids who also like punk music. Also, Faction's selection of punk seems much more limited than the channel devoted solely to the genre.
Do you honestly feel that there are enough listeners to justify an AC/DC or Bruce Springsteen-specific channel but not enough for an entire genre? How about multiple pop stations with massive amounts of overlap like Hits1, Pop2k, Pulse, and 90's on 9?
I do enjoy other stations, but I have been waiting patiently for the AC/DC Radio "Limited Engagement" to end so I could get my punk channel back. I guess that isn't happening now. Thanks, Sirius.
Also, I am a subscriber but I don't have my account number or ESN in front of me right now. It's a little irritating to have those as required fields for a comment that isn't a technical or account-specific issue.
That last sentence is because to submit the form if you select the "I am a subscriber" option you have to fill in your account number and the ESN of your radio. Who the hell just has that right in front of them?
