Day 01: A book series you wish had gone on longer OR a book series you wish would just freaking end already (or both!)
A book series that I would not have minded to have gone longer would of course be the Harry Potter series. I loved everything about that series and found it easy to get caught up in the potterverse that Rowling so brilliantly put together. She did give us seven books and I invested 10 years into the fandom nothing to garner any awards but I poured over pages and pages of fan art, spent the in between book time immersed in shoebox which I maintain is the best fanfic ever written EVER. I even joined HiH to be even more immersed in the potterverse because really my IRL friends just pat me in the head and humor my love of the series. I mean they like it well enough but not the way I do. Le sigh ... I loves me my Potter.
Series that I would love to see end would be L.J. Smith's Night World series. While it is for the most part beautifully written, the later books are lacking and the finale of the series has been coming for oh I don't know something like 10 years! And the publishing date keeps getting pushed back now I think it is slated for a 2012 release as the capitalize on the popularity of the Vampire Diaries. But seriously enough is enough, the first 9 books draw you into the Night World so skillfully and then you are left feeling incomplete because there is no sense of completion wrong word no sense of closure with the series. You are kind of just left hanging. Urgh and then she has some short stories that have to do with the series that are just even more urgh because they do nothing to give you closure they just sit there trying to be as good as the rest of the series but not. IDK, I am still pissy that I allowed myself to get sucked back into that series when they re-released it in the omnibus editions. I should have stayed away in the first place but I guess 10 years was a long enough time for me to forget that there was never any ending.
