Weeeell, it's a really, REALLY long story. HUGE motherfucking story with family losses, illness, drama, job losses and gains, leaving college, etc.
The family losses actually lead up the my illness which causes me to leave college. In one winter, we lost five - count it! - five pets, one right after another. Oreo and Snowfire (guinea pigs) died within three weeks of each other in November 2009. Betsie (cat) and Flame (guinea pig) died within a week apart in February 2010. Darwin, my ol' blind guy was finally put down in April 2010. Snowfire's brother, Ice, passed away in late August of this year.
I became ill from depression to the point I wasn't eating, anything I did eat went right through me, I grew pale, shook constantly, hot flashes came with anxiety attacks and that went on from late February 2010 to, oh, well... I'm still getting better actually. It's never going away. My digestive system is pretty sensitive to stress, anxiety, panic and other issues now to the point I could have cronic IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) for the rest of my fucking life. I'm on mega anti-depression meds, anti-anxiety meds, and emergency Xanax for panic attacks, which are more frequent. Had a HUGE monster of a panic attack in the DMV once while my brother was with me and can't have anyone standing close behind me anymore. Yippee...not.
Around March 2010, we found a stray and abandoned 5 month old cat/kitten hanging around after taking a ride in a car engine. She is still with us and the only sign of her past is a scarred right eye. She doesn't meow, but she chirps and purrs while being possibly the strangest cat I have ever met. EVER. She attacks my bed and there's nothing on it. She's mental on many levels, but Calypso is my "therapy" cat after finding her exactly one month after loosing my Betsie girl. She's about two now.
Let's see...with Darwin's passing, we got a new puppy as a friend of Samson around December of 2010. Mack is insane. Mack thinks he's bigger then the whole world. He fits right in. He's a Husky, lab and terrier mix and is the perfect size for ol' Samson and they play, play, play. He's now a year old.
Then there's Emma. In November 2010, my brother and I started volunteering at the animal shelter here in town. It's not the most perfect shelter around, but they do their best with what they have and what people donate, which isn't much. Emma the torbie cat was there for a year. She's friendly, outgoing, very talkative and all around very good cat. Dad, who's not a cat person, fell for her and we first fostered her. A week later, we adopted her.
We have broken the pet rule with three cats and two dogs. Did I mention rabbits? Oh, yes. We have rabbits now, too. When Oreo and Snowfire passed on, my mother felt dreadful that I didn't have something small and fluffy to take care of. I love caring for Calypso the nutball, but I needed something small and fluffy. This is where Jack comes into play. Jack is a purebred black Holland Lop neutered buck and is a total badass dude. Course, the day before he was getting fixed, he escaped his cage and got busy with the female Dad got two months before. Voila!
Five babies later and we still have them! That makes...who's counting? Seven rabbits in total. Got the two boys fixed and they are all doing great. Micah (pronounced Meeka), Papacha, Arumi, Spirit and Quinn are an interesting bunch of dorks. Momma Comet is a purebred Mini Rex with taht velvet coat and none of them got it. Micah has Jack's small ears, but they stand right up. Spirit has the largest ears of them all and they also stand right up. Jack the badass dude doesn't live in a cage, but is potty trained and lives in my room where he rules the roost. Cats don't mind him, Mack stalks him and he's a good fluffy roommate.
Working now at a grooming shop here in town and training to be a dog groomer with a Master Groomer. Hand her any dog and she'll do it. Been working with her since June 2011 and enjoying every bit of it. Been making some good money, too. Still living at home, but with today's economy, that's not a shock and they're in no rush to kick my ass out.
Anyone want to see pics of the new guys?
Jack with Calypso. She's...weird.
Jack with his daughters. Black - Arumi. Gray/blue - Quinn. Black and white - Micah. Date on camera is soooo wrong! Their enclosures are more spacious now and they get out for frequent running around fun time.
Emma and Calypso is her partner in crime. Once again, she's weird.
Mack is just a touch bigger than what you seen in this pic, but that white fluff is him. Samson approves.
So, there we go. There's a short version of my life in a nutshell.
