Eh, I think most people know that slash isn't going to be canon. That doesn't mean that they can't imagine that it's happening behind closed doors or whatever - this fandom is one of the ones where the characters become real, and they have secret lives and secret desires. Plus, people are going to imagine the characters as being gay sometimes. When 10% of the population is gay and many people are bisexual, it stands to reason that a few of the students at Hogwarts would be gay or bisexual. Of course, it annoys me too when EVERY DAMN CHARACTER is getting their gay on, because that's just not realistic ( ... )

No way, you aren't dissing it. I <3 other people's opinions! xD And, really, I'm ranting about people who insist on having every character in the entire fandom all slashed with each other in the most random pairings ever. Like, they can't imagine the fact that *gasp* some students at Hogwarts might not be gay. That's what really bothers me more than anything.

And I agree, fandom is entirely different than canon. I have to keep reminding myself. :P And people can mess around with their fandom however way they like, because it's just fandom. But sometimes the super ultra gayness of it grates on my nerves. It seems the only straight people in the fandom are Ron/Hermione..but even they're a bit iffy.

Yeah, kids are having sex insanely early on. 14 and 15 year-olds are having sex all over the place nowadays, I forget that sometimes. ...I think I'm getting too old for my fandom. xD

Yeah, that's definitely annoying. Magic-using society has been around forever, according to canon, and I doubt they'd be any more accepting of gay culture than normal society is. They definitely wouldn't approve of gay gay gayness nancing around in every dormitory. Just doesn't make sense.

Damn whippersnappers. They need to learn to respect their elders.

Hah, that's why the only HP fanfiction I read is Harry/Ginny Ron/Hermione stuff, when they are out of school and working through either finally finishing off Voldemort or dealing with the aftermath of that. No slash. I don't support any slash. But i will read Lost slash. lol. And I pretty much always stick to canon relationships, or ones that could EVER possibly happen in canon. Otherwise it drives me nuts. So, yes. *agrees with your rant*

psssst, remember when you were going to tell me how to use the banner you made me/possibly even hook me up with code for a layout? If you get time sometime please could you help me? *puppy eyes* Muchos gracias :)

Gah, I know, I've been working on the layout code. I've messed it up and I can't fix it. ...I think it's because I have rage issues. Meh. I promise I will have it by tomorrow or you can have me dragged out into the streets and shot multiple times. xD I've been ridiculously busy and between being busy and my rage blackouts, HTML has not been my friend lately. :P

I'm so sorry it's taken this long!

no rush! It's a favour to me I have no right to be demanding or anything lol. I'd just love to use your gorgeous header :-D I don't want to cause you fits of rage! If you can't get it working don't worry about it! heh

Awww, thank you! :-) And yes, Locke is a bit like Elphaba. I never thought of that. And you spelt Deus Ex Machina right, don't worry. ;-)

As for the Sayid/Kate or Charlie/Kate question, you're right... it should have been worded the other way around. I just find it ironic that those used to be generic ships. ;-)

I must do this shag meme!

And finally, omg HP fandom. They are INSANE. For goodness sake. *shakes head*

Glad you enjoyed my survey and you like my writing. ^_^

Hee, I thought of the Locke vs. Elphaba connection because I was listening to 'No Good Deed Goes Unpunished' right at that question. :) And yay for my spelling. In Theatre I had the hardest time spelling it. But, really, it was the 'Ex' because I always wanted to put 'Machina et Deus' because it sounds like 'et.' Hmm...I wonder why the LOST people flipped it...it's Machina ex Deus, not Deus ex Machina. Meh.

Yeah, it's silly those were actual ships...though I was a Charlie/Kate fan for, like, half an episode, until I realised I didn't like Kate.

Shagging is fun! :P

That is why I don't really read any HP stuff... I stick to my parody. ^_^ In fact... I think the only HP fics I am following (there are... two?) are both humor ones. But I've seen some of the stuff out there, and it's ridiculous. And I'm pretty sure that sixteen-year-olds from relatively well-to-do families don't engage in such behavior. Especially in Hogwarts! How the hell can you have sex with the paintings watching you?!

Dude... that should totally be worked into my parody somehow. *cackles*

If I'm ever a famous author, I am either going to avoid the fanfiction, or forbid it. Probably the former. But I definitely sympathize with the authors who choose the latter.

Ahahaa. Or whatever ghosts that can just randomly show up. What if they just came into a room. Bah. Paintings watching is creepy, but ghosts might be a bit worse. *shudder* Mental note: If I ever go to Hogwarts, there shall be NO sex!

Yeah, I would avoid it..actually, I'm lying. Because I would be bored one day and want to see what people were doing to my writing..of course then I would want to wash my brain and eyes because I would probably pick one of those horrible Mary-Sue stories where everything is spelt wrong and exclamation points are overused.

Wow... there's nothing in that rant I disagreed with. I just don't know what else to say. HP fandom, LotR slash, Lost slash... I agreee completely.

Yay! I realise I am in the very, very small minority of fandom people that don't really care for slash, but it's yay for me to find someone who actually agrees with my ranting! *dances around with you* Woot.
