If you walked outside yesterday, 1 May 2006, and wondered where the hell everyone was, it's because they boycotted the economy. All of it. Yesterday, hundreds of thousands of people who weren't born in the States -- who live here legally or undocumented -- bought nothing, sold nothing, did no work, and let the States have what a remarkably vocal yet ignorant segment of the population would say is the American Utopia: a Day Without an Immigrant. There were marches in LA, NYC, Seattle, and many other cities. Tyson Chicken was forced to close two-thirds of their meat-packing plants. It's amazing.
