I tried doing an actual livejournal entry a couple of weeks ago, and failed abysmally, but not I have no excuse. So here we go.
I will not attempt to talk about all the stuff that has been going on since last I updated, as that would get to extensive, so I will do a week in review.
* Last Wednesday was Sufi class. I was really happy to be back there. At least one meeting had been cancelled due to weather, and I had been unable to attend Murshid's urs, because we went out of town for my birthday. It was probably the most productive class that I have had so far. We are just starting to get into the idea of our god ideal, and exploring what that means for us. Rabia and Zakir Amin are able to create an atmosphere that is so comfortable and conducive to truly going into yourself. I am grateful for the opportunity to be in the classes and I am looking forward to the spring retreat in April, out at their house.
* Thursday was the Speculative Fiction Group readings. They were open to the public, and if I had actually none I would have my piece shored up in time to read it, I would have mentioned it sooner. It was incredible rush to be able to read in front of a group of strangers. It was an even greater rush to have those strangers approach you afterwards and tell you how much they enjoyed your reading. There were drinks and snacks and much discussion of writing nerd subjects, which felt especially good after (what I felt was) my disastrous experience with the Jefferson Society a few weeks before. More than ever I really felt that WriterHouse is where I belong to explore my passions, and that my relationship with Uva should remain limited to a disdain for their teaching methods. And attending class, I suppose.
* Friday Jdavyd and I went out to Tara Thai, which was were I first saw news footage of Mubarak finally saying that he would step down for realz and stuff. Lunch with Jdavyd is always the best part of the week, and that just made it better.
* Saturday I mainly did stuff around the house. Read. Wrote. Homework. Probably watched a show or something. Snuggled with husband and kitties. The usual. Honestly, I don't remember Saturday. Vaguely disturbing. Heh.
* Sunday was study brunch with Rebekah at HotCakes, which just turned into talking brunch at Hot Cakes. Rebekah is usually my rock steady for studying, but that day she failed. Oh well. I don't see here nearly as much these days, so it was nice to talk, even if it was kind of awkward due to extenuating circumstances of weird people.
* Monday was Valentine's Day, of course. I have always hated Valentine's day. The best part of Valentine's Day was Jdavyd making me a ffffuuuuu comic that I had designed, to post on reddit. Woohoo! Spent most of the day trying to work on a poem that is still trying to figure out what it is, and then I went to Beer Run with Raychel, for dinner. After that I had class, which was fairly uneventful, except that I was annoyed that my poem was not done.
* I slept like crap Monday night, but I still seemed to do okay on Tuesday. I finally got a WriterHouse membership, so I am no longer the groovy wacko who gatecrashes all the time. The end of an era? Who knows? Tuesday's class probably had a lot to do with sleeping like crap. I am really enjoying my class, but there is a shadow over my enjoyment that I hope will go away soon. Jdavyd met me after class, and he made me brownies. Yay! Brownies!
* I slept like crap again, probably because of the brownies. I did less okay today, but I am hoping to sleep well tonight, with the aid of mugwort, etc. Nora was out of the office all day, and I had a kickin' genius playlist seeded by TMBG, so I was able to stay active. Actually felt fairly productive for feeling like a complete zombie.
I am now currently at WriterHouse. It is so great to finally just be able to come here and chill and write. It's amazing the things I spend money on and then the things I put off spending money on. This has been three years in the making. I has a shirt. I has a wifi connection. I has all the coffee and desks I need. I also have nook which I realized I did not mention before. Jdavyd and I got nooks a week ago. Woot!
So yeah, that's the catch up. I am gonna try to make a habit of updating at least a week and commenting on posts more often instead of lurking like a creepy lurking person. Look forward to reading everyone. If I can get into a routine, I plan on upgrading my account, but at this point it's not really worth it.
