Today was decently productive. I made some calls and arranged stuff for school. I'm currently talking to my dad about the loft...deciding how we're gonna do it (maybe just paying for one would be easier?), and I've gotten all the clothes I want to bring ready in one area. Also, my other stuff is all ready in the basement. I think I might be ( Read more... )

You're the best Steve I know! The only reason I didn't bring you was because you were at work :)...I dropped you off a few hours before.

What exactly is a 'loft' that you are talking about? is it like an apartment?

Haha, I would never build my own apartment...I'm not that good :). The loft I'm talking about is two beds suspended over the room....like two top bunks without bottoms, so in my dorm room there's more space for stuff. They're not THAT complicated to build, but the ones you can buy are a lot more sophisticated (they incorporate springs into the bed, rather than just a platform) and it saves time...you don't have to build your own. A loft can also mean a room that one builds over part of a great room or another room with a big ceiling, or a "skyloft" is basically an apartment over a parking garage or urban stores, like the ones you see in NYC or Chicago. You might have been thinking of those. Moving to K-Zoo soon?

Ok, i think i can picture what you're talking about, with the loft. Is there a ladder or something that gets you up to them? Thats pretty cool, they allow that in regular school dorm rooms? My familys moving in a week, i'm going with them to move some stuff in, so i guess i will technically reside there too sometimes when i'm not at school.

Yep, there's a ladder in the middle of the two that slides to either side to get into the bed on either side of the room. At Michigan State, where I go, lofts are "permitted but not encouraged," even though over 50% of the dorm kids get them. The only reason they're "not encouraged" is b/c MSU doesn't want you suing them if they break or you get injured. Good luck with the move!
