So I've been raiding with my guild about  1 1/2 months now. I joined shortly after I hit 70 and was in badge gear and blues. I was not promised a spot on the raid team but eventually, after long boring nights on standby camped out by instance portals, I became a regular raider when a spot opened up.
I continued to upgrade my gear with crafted epics, badge gear and heroic drops.
Since becoming a regular I've only gotten two pieces of T5.   Two pieces in two months.  And only because no one else wanted them.  And I was still charged some arbitrary amount of dkp for it (I'm not sure how they determined how much dkp it was worth when no one bid on in the first place).
It sure it a long and boring climb to the top of the dkp charts.
And last night a person who isn't a regular raider bid more dkp than I did on the nethervoid cloak that drops off BT trash.  The person who won it from me is a standby who was subbed into the raid because someone had to leave.
This person has been in the guild longer than I have but they do not have regular raid attendance.
I'm not very proud that our guild accepts bids from people who are not regular raiders over those who are.  This is an item that is a HUGE upgrade for me, and since I am present at every raid, would beneficial to the group as a whole.
If we don't have rules in place that allow fair upgrading for regular raiders over those who show up once or twice a week, then we won't progress on schedule.
But they can go ahead and let the standbys gear themselves up.  And when regular raiders are still in crap gear and are unable to dps down harder bosses they might rethink their bid policies.  But I'm not holding my breath.
Perhaps then they can just wait until their standbys bother to show up one night in order to get down a new boss.
And it looks like our top warlock might be leaving because of another issue of "fairness" (or as he perceives, lack of it) within the guild.  If he does, there goes our best-geared and highest-dpsing lock out the door and that leaves only me in place as a regular and reliable warlock raider.  And the damn standby has better gear than I do.
Our guild tries very hard to be fair to everyone, and it shows.  But obviously people get lost in their system and end up with the short end of the stick.
Yeah, I'm irritated.
