So my in-laws have a Blockbuster account, and one of them rented a movie, watched it, liked it, and gave it to me for a few days. I didn't know when the due date was, or who had rented it. I watched the thing, then asked in-laws about where to return it. They said there are 2 Blockbusters in town, and I could return it to the one closest to my house (so long as I mentioned it had come from the other Blockbuster). Fine, easy, right?
Walked in and handed this movie to a clerk. He then ran away (literally) with it in hand! He went to the back of the store.... as I was thinking "what the hell?.... maybe I should chase him?" I started to, but his direction changed. He was now running along the righthand side of the store. I turned to the right. I must have been really slow at this chasing thing, or he must have been a sprinter, cause there was a puff of air as he landed back at the front counter. He was perplexed that I was still hanging around. I was too confused to say anything. Then I remembered. Tell him it's from another store! I did that..... and he asked "What's the last name?" At first I thought he wanted my name, for the store records of who drops off what, but then I told him my in-laws' last name, followed by a first name (a guess at who'd rented it). He asked me to spell that first name.... which I started to.... but he cut me off before I could finish. After all, he was talking on the phone to those very important staff at the other store, and couldn't be bothered to hear me. Well, turns out he thought that the spelling I'd given him was the last name. Those other staff couldn't find any account listed, of course. Then he realized he needed to actually hear what I was saying. He'd completely ignored the last name I gave him. So he asked for it again. Once those other staff looked it up, along with the spelled out first name, they found the account! Who knew?? You can find things when you get the correct info!!
Anyway, I was wily, and wanted to do one more thing before leaving. Was the thing overdue?? He didn't want to look that up for me. But he did, cause I insisted. It was on-time.
I've never gone back to that store.
