No pain, as of yet. I spent all afternoon asleep and all evening snuggled up on the sofa.
And there I watched BSG 2.13 - "Epiphanies"
I guess I had feared it would turn out like that ( I did see spoilers for the episode), but I had hoped it would not. Because - BLEGH.
This was easily the episode I liked least of all. The one that makes me not wait eagerly for the next one, except for the fact that I think it cannot get worse.
We had:
- The return of Barbie-of-the-cylons (okay, I know my hopes were up way too high there).
- Baltar going more crazy and nobody thinking anything of it.
- A "miracle cure" that came about at the last possible moment. Any bets on the fact that this nice new treatment will only be available to those deemed "worthy"?
- A leader of a militant opposition group being allowed to carry a nuclear warhead off the Galactica, which should have been taken back from Baltar in the first place once he had managed to create that "cylon test".
- Baltar once more being the Genius-of-all-trades; not only is he the resident medical expert now, oh no, he also is the one to actually take the blood cells from the fetus and give them to Roslin. WTF????? Sorry, but that was the serie's most ridiculous scene ever. Why didn't they let someone with experience in medical treatment do it?
- Billy being overeager and handing that letter to Baltar before time. Okay, so he was distressed, but still - there was not call for that!
[ETA: Not going into any moral discussion of killing the baby / using it for medical purposes here. I fear I am not up to that with a still-fuzzy head *and* in English. Go and read
koalathebear's
review - she is much better at this kind of stuff than I am.]
The only positive thing is that we got a timestamp again; we are 189 days past the events of the mini series. And apparently a good while after those of the Resurrection Ship episodes, seeing as Kara says to Lee that she "hasn't seen much of you since your space walk" - and the much larger baby belly Sharon suddenly has grown. Hm - seems like Roslin made it through a bit more time than Cottle gave her in the previous episodes, come to think of it.
