Friday already? Where has the week gone?

Erm, yes, seems like it was Monday only yesterday. But the week has started busy and ended sleepy.

On Tuesday it was the Punk's 15th birthday. The dreaded cooking went all right and we had a nice day with my parents who came to visit. (My mum makes one hellish good roast pork, so I had counted on her for any emergencies, which thankfully did not happen.) In the evening, it was time for my weekly English class. It was fun and I was once again reassured that the exam should not be a problem at all. Oh, and the exam registration papers arrived on Tuesday as well. I will have to go to Frankfurt on 10 December - be there at 8:30, ugh. It is a 20-minute drive, so I will have to get up rather early for a Saturday. Exam will take all day, meep.

The funniest part of the evening was the talk about a play that will be performed tonight and that some of the group are going to watch (I initially intended to go as well, but am feeling a bit under the weather ...) - "The Importance of Being Earnest", performed by The New Triad Theatre Company from London. The student sitting next to me (the one I know least because she was not there when we did introductory rounds in the very first lesson) and I got to talk about plays, movies, actors and the like and she suddenly mentioned Alan Rickman. Errr, yes, the rest of the break was spent squeeing and discussing films. Aaaaaaaaaaand - she owns a copy of "An Awfully Big Adventure" on DVD, which I have been looking for in vain for years. She will be good and let me borrow it for a week. *squeeeee*

Apparently I do not have an Alan Rickman icon, something I definitely need to change. A propos icon - the one I use here was made by sjishere who very generously has allowed me to use it!

Anyhow, Tuesday went by and Wednesday brought more squeeing - a visit from my friend Fellowfan. We talked and talked and the day was gone in what appeared to be minutes. I saw all the pictures from this year's FedCon (she is a regular there) and we discussed BSG, which naturally she also enjoys to watch. She seconded muridae_x's suggestion to go and have a look at 'Rome' and I began to download the first episodes immediately.

Thursday started bright and clear and with no appointments at all. But when I returned from dropping Bea off at kindergarten, my throat began to get scratchy and within the next couple of hours, my head began to hurt and some kind of cold set in. I went for a nap on the sofa and suddenly evening was there. *sigh* I did not even have enough energy to sit at the computer for more than a couple of minutes, instead returned to the sofa and joined The Husband to watch episode 1x07 of BSG again - the German version, downloaded for husband and sons. (Season 1 is currently being shown on a German pay tv channel and 1x07 is the most recent one there.)

This morning I felt slightly better - the throat is not as sore as it was yesterday, but overall I still feel like I have been hit by a truck. So, the sofa again. At least a couple of downloads were done, so I looked into 'Rome'. And looked. And looked. I watched the first three episodes this afternoon.

I really like the show. I admit that I have no clue about which parts are historically correct, as history was one of my most-hated subjects at school. (I used to hate everything that was not about understanding but about "learning by heart", so history and biology were by far lowest on my list, battling with sports ...) This might be an advantage here, as I will very likely not cringe at historical "errors" and instead just sit and enjoy.

Yes, well, and suddenly it is almost the weekend. Where has the week gone? And why do I have Billy Joel in my head, singing "Do as the Romans do"?

fangirling, bsg
