Ups and Downs

I started the day feeling very depressed, as our almost-15-year-old son is giving us huge troubles again. But I feel better now, after being able to talk about it a bit on IM with muridae_x - ranting always helps. Also, I now have come up with a suitable punishment for the boy and being evil helps even more.

So it is about time to look at the bright side of things:

- I am almost free of headaches today and can ignore the little bit that remained

- I got a copy of a student's book for the third level exam (I am currently doing the preparation course for the first level) and it looks interesting and not unmanageable. Also, the book cost only 2,95€ at ebay, hehe!

- Talking of book purchases: After taking up those classes, I decided that the time has come for me to buy a good dictionary. After asking around for a bit, I decided it had to be the Macmillan, as it not only comes with a CD-ROM (as do all the others), but also with free access to its online edition. Wahey! So I checked for it at amazon.de and found it cost 27,95€ (the paperback edition), which seems a reasonable price (the Oxford ALD ist at 34,95€). As books have fixed prices here in Germany, there is no chance to get a German book cheaper anywhere. But as this is an English dictionary, there also exists a British edition, which is 100% identical - and I got that one in town on Tuesday for 25,90€, hehe! Go me! (At amazon, the BE would have cost almost 40€.)

Now I only need to sit down and actually do some studying.

ETA: Completely forgot to squee about the fact that BSG finally is on German tv! Coded pay-tv only, but I guess the sound tracks will be available online soon enough and I then will merge them with the OV I already have. This means I can watch the episodes with the whole family instead of just on my own. Yay!
