I think I may have made a really inappropriate sound when I read the summary of this fiction. I am a complete and utter crazy person for loving The Voyage Home as much as I do, and I think this makes me reach that level of happy when you realize that Raphaela somehow combines K/S with an epic modern-AU premise, AOS!verse personalities, marine biology, slow-building romance, and deliriously hot sex. Above all else, I love seeing the Bridge Crew at their very best: I love Scotty for his troll-like ignorance of the world around him; love Uhura and her perspective ways; Sulu being pathetic; Pike being an awesome politician and awesomer dad; Chekov being the best jailbait intern ever; McCoy being the coolest dad/best friend ever; and Spock and Jim are... yeah. AND THEY ARE ALL ON A BOAT, HOW COULD YOU REFUSE. The ending hits you before you really realize it's done, but the story could go on forever so it's not too big of a deal. Even at its impressive 55000-word length, you will want to go back and start all over again when you hit this epic fiction's conclusion.
