digitally sick from a virus

Feb 15, 2004 01:24

The past few days, I have been languishing and withering from denial of the internet and my hard drive. The virus has been officially extirpated from my computer, but its path of destruction was impossible to quarantine.
Thanks to the computer savvies who helped me out through LJ, I refrained from reformatting and after hours of laboring, managed to catch my computer on a good state (perhaps maybe after 34 times of rebooting?), opened a CD-burning program, and burned my most dear, crucial files on a few CDs, excluding my 20 gB of mp3’s. The virus meddled with my operating platform, and hence, after the hours (all day today) my daddy slaved over trying to get it back into functional operation, he came to the realization it truly had to be reformatted. After all the help I have received from friends, and rescuing my most crucial files, my moods have improved, from being saturnine to sanguine.

Small Things That Transpired During My Virus Ordeal:

1. Have neglected my creative intellect. Reflecting back on mind during this week of unproductive writing, I only see a dejected regions of dreary crevices, my cistern of words and phrases frozen to an ice-cold apathy. But I’ll soon thaw it with ready hands.

2. My Coolpix 3100 finally arrived, yesterday. Prior to this, all the photos you have seen were either taken with my friend’s Olympus Stylus 300, or my daddy’s 1 megaPixel Olympus D-100 (<--he plunked down a mere $99 for this early last year- and it has delivered excellent shots, ironically). I did indeed, yield to my primal urges and ripped off its tantalizingly see-through plastic clothing, and yes, brought its naked metallic body to my lips.

3. Am indebted to my sweet daddy, and brother. My dad sacrificed his evening yesterday, and the entire day today, to try to repair my festering c://, but to no avail. Instead he placed a 6 gB temporary hard drive (that I’m using now) as an emergency drive until my former c:// is reformatted. My brother also spoiled me today; he drove me to Wal-Mart and waited while I selected amenities (like “Maple & Brown Sugar” Instant Oatmeal), stood in line, and paid!

4. Shamefully am novels behind in English class. I am supposed to have finished Thomas Hardy’s Tess by last week but did not even get halfway, and so forth with other novels. I am definitely going to be catching up, I can whiz through if I try.

5. I finally succumbed and bought a 2-month LJ paid account. In more accurate terms, my creative caprice pushed me over the edge; a paid account allows for 15 userpics as opposed to the defaulted 3.

Reaction from realizing the baleful intents of the virus.

See the slightly tortured eyes? Now that I'm over it, this picture is actually quite comical!

Yours respectfully,
C
