Since I've given Yugi a slight handicap (other than his height!) in "1001 Nights", it got me to thinking about what a romance novel would be like with a heroine who has a chronic illness (they do say to write what you know). But it would be a very short book if our heroine had *my* chronic illness(es)!
Hero: I love you!
Brain-fogged Heroine: Who are you again?
[Later, as Exile plays on the stereo...]
Hero: I want to kiss you all over! 'Til the night closes in, even!
Heroine (who is *aching* all over): Touch me and die.
[Later still, this time with a little Marvin Gaye to set the mood...]
Hero: I wanna give you some sexual healing!
Heroine: I was actually asleep before midnight for the first time in weeks and you wake me up for *this*? Unless you can suddenly cure lupus with your lovin', go away. A lot. Or I will hurt you.
[And, of course, the HEA...]
Hero: I will love you for ever and always!
Heroine: That's nice. Who are you again?
The End
