It's so unfair that I have to go back to Scotland on Sunday, and be there for five months, before I can come back and see any of these people again.

I like Scotland a lot and it's so much more beautiful than anything here, but being so constantly alone s exhausting. Everyone I love is here right now, and I'm sad to leave.

Give me some peace about

It's always you, not them ddailydd January 2 2008, 03:25:47 UTC
But of course the exact 'them' is key. Each of us has an elemental hunger for safe community in which we are known and cherished and may speak our mind. So you find in your family, grandfather especially. So you found, for a time, at SYF. So you must find all your life, even now. From what I know of you, I can say with confidence that you know how to be an integral part of such community. You just need to find one in Scotland, in Edinborough. My advice is to pursue your interests, with great diligence and enthusiasm. Sing. Knit. Produce photos. Draw. Find others interested in same and share yourself, your essence. Be brave, be fearless, be yourself. You're all (and more!) than anyone could wish.

Thank you, Don. I know you're right; sometimes I just need to hear it again. Happy 2008.

I am reminded of your first retreat when you drew the group into contemplative chant-singing. I can still hear it.

That was a good moment.
