Okay, so... computer geeky types. I need your help.
Firefox, iTunes, and AIM tend to nom memory. As it is now, my computer is getting old. And cranky. And when memory gets nommed it tends to freeze.
I would switch to Chrome instead of Firefox, which would solve a lot of my problems, except I kind of need some of Firefox's add-ons (namely, LJ-Switcher) and am unaware if Chrome has anything equivalent. I'm still wondering, however, if there's a way to reduce Firefox's rather massive resource nomming (I... also need to re-set the dictionary. again. Because I'm tired of constantly spelling "because" as "becuase". x_X; )
So, that leaves - alternatives to AIM and iTunes. The AIM equivalent needs to use AOL's messenger service and needs to let me use multiple screen names; being able to send/receive files with it is also important. I don't want Trillian, please.
the iTunes equiv. just needs to not be a resource hog and to play .m4a files. It'd be nice if there was an easy way to import all my iTunes songs with it, but if there isn't that's also fine.
Soooo. Suggestions?
