Twisted Fairytale
Once upon a time, in a land far away, there lived two princes who fell in love with each other. Just like any other fairytales, people tried to separate them but in the end, love prevailed. Despite being kidnapped by pirates, riding dragons, talking trees, manic/psycho sidekicks, they defied all of it...just to be with one another.
BUT...
Our story is not about them. No...Their story were already written and told. Our story was about their offspring whom they named Heechul.
With locks as fiery as the fire, eyes sparkling as the stars and lips as red as blood our dear Heechul were really a sight. King Kangin and his err...king/consort/queen/whatever you want to call Teukkie were proud of their son. What? Heechul's a boy right? Ehem...back to the story. Their first born son who symbolizes their love -lust- was their pride and joy. Yet they seemed to forget the evil wizard...um...ah! The evil wizard Yehsung! For Yehsung’s has this mysterious aura every morning before having his coffee and ouch...fine I'll continue. The evil wizard Yehsung had placed a curse on queen Eeteuk; yes we're settling with that for umma's sanity, that his first born, regardless of the gender will be cursed.
The curse of the death touch.
Good thing the king and his queen were immune to curses...but the common people weren't.
Whomever the princess, yes even he's a boy; touch will die a long agonizing death. A very, very painful and blood chilling death.
When the midwife touched him, blood spurted out of her nose making her bleed to death. The wet nurse's skin suddenly got wrinkled when baby Heechul was handed to her. The...fine. I'm getting there.
But like any curse, the fairy godmothers are there to rescue them. Well...to a point.
Fairy Godmothers Shindong, Ryeowook and Sungmin...yes any violent reactions? None? Okay, let's proceed; were called upon the great hall. Each of them bearing a gift to ease the pain of the couple.
Fairy godmother Shindong gave the princess a quick and witty tongue. To get him out of troubles for Shindong was also a seer on the side.
Fairy godmother Ryeowook gave the princess a strong heart. For seeing people dying because of your touch, a strong heart was needed for him not to go mad.
Fairy godmother Sungmin thought for awhile. For all he can do was manipulate time. An idea then popped in his head. He whipped out his cell and call for the Kyuhyun, the lovable cupid/matchmaker. Together, they went back in time to somehow lessen the curse. Yehsung anticipated that move so the cupid and the fairy were banished together.
With their last power they offered a counter spell, for they knew Love is the greatest curse. But before the spell was complete, they disappeared into thin air.
The altered death touch was then made.
Anyways, because of the curse Princess Heechul grew up alone. Even though his father, King Kangin would play with him which always ending up as him being beaten up by Eeteuk for almost snapping Heechul's neck, and his mother, Eeteuk would tell him stories of princess, prince, knights and castles, and yes I know it's a run on sentence so shut up Kibum I'm telling a story here, Ehem where was I? Ah...yes... Even all because of that, Heechul grew up lonely, vain and cold.
Children doesn't want to go near him, he can't play with pets, heck even a careless touch would cause such an unsightly accident. His only friend was the magic mirror KIBUM who doesn't even talk that much to him.
"Ah...magic mirror in my hand...who's the fairest in the land?" He would often ask. But Kibummie would just ignore him knowing the princess was just being bored and petty.
"Kibumah! You must answer me!" Heechul whined.
Kibum closed his book and sighed. "Fine. You are."
"Oh I knew that. Silly me, why ask questions I knew already the answer." and then Heechul would be happy again...before he would get bored and ask Kibum questions just to annoy the hell out of him.
This had been the princess cycle for almost 20 years. As he reached his majority, his beauty was the talk of the land. But suitors and princesses don’t want to take his hand. And for that his parents were relieved.
For the condition of the altered curse should never be revealed.
His one true love will be granted eternal life because of Heechul's touch...
In exchange for the princess life.
---
Little did they know, our princess was a wanderer.
He would go out in towns dressed in ordinary, ever Ella stylish, way, mask over his face careful not to touch innocent bystanders. Kibum the mirror in his pocket, he walks around the town, known to them as Cinderella.
In town there lived a young man, Hankyung was his name, and Beijing Fried rice was his game. Yes, Hannie we knew that's lame. T^T Chinese of descent but when he was young had gotten lost to the land that have yet to be named...what about SM town? Nah...Let's just say the Suju Kingdom. Yes, poor Hankyung got lost on Suju Kingdom whom language was alien to him. Not that kind of aliens Donghae! Sheessh...Anyhow, the nice lost boy had found refuge on the richest merchant's wife. But the merchant doesn't like to adopt foreign boys so he sent the boy away to an abandoned house. Everyday, the wife would bring Hankyung ingredients for his food. Years passed on like this. One time, the wife fell ill. Hankyung, now a young man, had known this and made her his specialty. The wife was healed and recommended the food. Don Eunhyuk tried it and was amazed. He immediately ordered Hankyung to cook it for his restaurant everyday. After a week, Don Eunhyuk's restaurant became a big hit. But there's a catch. Not even once, they've seen Hankyung's face. For our dear Chinaman hid it behind a mask.
This news got our princess' attention and he wanted to try the infamous Beijing Fried Rice himself ignoring Kibum's mutter about eating it all day, every *beep* day. Argh! Stop messing with my story Kibummie!!!
Huff. Where was I? Oh yeah...
So the princess sneaked out of the castle again just to try the infamous Beijing fried rice. But being the directionally incapable person that he is, he got lost. Fate must've seen this as an opportunity to punish...I mean to test him that they made it rain. Hard. Alas, our poor princess hates rain so he ran and ran. He ended up in an old abandoned looking house. He went inside and was surprised when he saw how homey the weird house inside. He immediately went towards the hearth and basked in the warmth of fire. He took out Kibum, the mirror, to wipe away the fog. Kibum looked around and just shook his head. Trust Cinderella to find a place like this inside a forest. He was about to ignore the whole situation when he saw someone behind Heechul.
"HEECHUL! BEHIND YOU!!!" Kibum screamed. Heechul turned around and saw no one. He looked at Kibum like he's crazy.
"Where? There's no one. I think you're hallucinating Kibum-ah." But Kibum insisted he saw someone approaching Rella.
"Whatever. I'm hungry. Let's go see if there's anything to eat here." So Heechul stood up and went looking for the kitchen, promptly forgetting Kibum's warnings and his manners.
After 10 minutes, Heechul found nothing. He went back to the living room and was surprised to see a simple dinner laid out on the floor. He immediately went to eat for he was really hungry. He then sensed the presence of someone in the room. The same presence he felt when he toured the house. The presence Kibum was nagging about earlier.
"You know, I'm your guest. I know it may sound rude but can I please see my host? I'd really want to thank him for giving me food and shelter." He said hoping the other person would oblige. "I'll not even touch you. I just want to say thank you." he used his sweetest voice. A few minutes had passed when someone stepped out of the shadows. The person was cloaked from head to foot and Heechul can't even saw his face.
"I want to see your face." He said but the person shook his head. "Well...alright. My name's hee...I mean Cinderella. What's yours?" Heechul asked. He was quick to use his nickname because he doesn't want to frighten the person. The person nodded and mumbled a word; it was so soft Heechul has to strain his ears just to hear him.
"Hangeng."
"Ah...nice to meet you Hangeng. Thank you for the food. It was really delicious..." the princess went on talking and for the first time, knew he had found a friend.
Something bothers him though...
Why do Hangeng doesn't want to show his face?
----
Days passed and the curiosity about the fried rice was forgotten. For the princess had found another where he could be addicted. For him, Hangeng’s fried rice was simply the best. Also, he had become attached to him that he wanted to hug and kiss him to show him that he likes Hangeng. But because of his curse, he cannot do that.
"Ah...mirror mirror in my hand, tell me...aissh...no matter what I ask it won't change the fact that I CAN'T TOUCH HIM!!!" he was about to throw the mirror when he heard Kibum cough. "Oh yeah...sorry about that.Ehehehehe." He laid the mirror down when Eeteuk entered his room. Heechul hugged him and sighed.
"What's the matter dear princess?" Eeteuk asked, please ignore the vomit sounds in the background.
"I just wished I could also hug other people like this mom." Teukkie patted his son's head. He silently thanked Ryeowook's gift; but he knew...someday...the loneliness of the death touch curse would take its toll on Heechul's strong heart.
---
On his way to Hangeng's house, he saw three carriages went pass him. A sudden dread filled his heart so he ran towards the old house. There he saw several men attacking Hangeng. He was mad. No one hurts his only friend. For the first time in many years, Heechul gladly used his curse.
The men were too many and Heechul couldn't attack them and defend Hangeng at the same time. The men had seen his curse's weakness and started attacking them from a distance. Hangeng started fighting too. Heechul knew he had to be careful. One wrong move and the person he'll touch could be his friend. The men knew it was impossible now that Heechul could freely move because Hangeng was also fighting. Some men had escaped but not without leaving a parting gift. Heechul was too busy fighting on his side he failed to see the arrow going straight on his back. But Hangeng saw it and shielded him with his body. Heechul saw it and with quick speed he touched the one who shot it. All the men had fled. They knew the one with the touch of death were on the brink on being a monster.
"Heechul...Hangeng is...Hangeng is..." Kibum spoke from Heechul's pocket. He can't say the word dying or else Heechul might throw him.
Heechul ran towards Hangeng. He knew that his only friend was wounded and he can't even hold him.
"I'm sorry...I'm useless...I'm sorry." He knelt beside him. He looked at his wound and knew Hangeng had to be brought to a doctor. "I'll call a doctor. Stay here with Kibum." But he was stopped when Hangeng spoke.
"No...Don’t go...don't leave me." Hangeng raised his hand to touch him but he shook his head. "You saw what I did to those men...If I touch you...you'll...I might..." Heechul broke into sobs. He really felt useless for the first time. Kibum saw all of this. He knew Heechul could do something...but he doesn't want to lose his friend, even though he sometimes denies it. But he knew Heechul would rather do it...than live all his life without Hangeng.
"Heechul...there is something you could do." He said in a very solemn voice.
"Eh?! What is it?! Answer me Kibummie!!!" Heechul was desperate. He'll do anything just to save Hangeng's life.
"Touch him."
"WHAT?! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!?!?"
"I mean it. Touch him." Kibum closed his eyes and sighed. "Do you know who my parents were? One of them is your fairy godmother Sungmin. With my father Kyuhyun, they got banished in the realm of mirrors. When I was born, they tried bargaining half of their lifetime just to get me out of there. But the god of Mirrors, Siwon didn't let them. Good thing his brother, Donghae pitied them. But he's not as powerful as his brother so he can only let me go back in the human realm as a guardian mirror. My parents were glad because I'll get out even if I have to be trapped in a mirror. They then asked Donghae to give me to queen Eeteuk to deliver a message." Kibum looked at the impatient looking Heechul because here was Hangeng dying and Kibum chose that moment to reminisce. He sighed, Heechul will be Heechul--
"KIBUMMIE IF YOU DON'T TELL ME WHAT I HAVE TO DO I SWEAR I'LL STEP ON YOU AND LAUGH AS YOUR MIRROR BROKE INTO A THOUSAND MILLION PIECES!!!!!"
"Fine. My parents wanted to me to tell your parents your curse were altered. If you touched your heart's true love, they'll be granted eternal life. Even if they're on the brink of death, the curse touch will give them back their life BUT," the 'but' made Heechul to stopped.
"But what?"
"But the life of eternity could be granted...in exchange for your life. Heechul...in order for you to save Hangeng's life, you have to..." But he was too late. Heechul already touched Hangeng. He hugged him with all his might wishing for him to get back. Not thinking about anything...for he's willing to pay any price.
"...die." Heechul slumped over Hangeng, his face still the fairest even without any life.
The end...
Ouch! Fine, I'll continue. No need to hit me with your bunny. XS
---
The death of princess Heechul was spread through the land. Sorrow enveloped the whole Suju kingdom but none could compete with the King and queen's sadness. Kibum the mirror, much to everyone's surprise, wanted to be broken when they bury the princess and scatter it on the princess tomb. That's when they realized that even though most of the times, Kibum ignores Heechul or wishes to kill Heechul...in the end, and they’re each others friends.
Amidst all these, the queen only wants one question to be answered. Who was the person Heechul loved enough for him to give away his life? For when they found Heechul, he was laid in the middle of the garden, different flowers surrounding him. Like a makeshift casket for the dead princess.
As the day for the burial came, a mysterious knight appeared. He knelt in front of the princess and asked for forgiveness.
"Great sir, why are you apologizing?" King Kangin asked. The man looked at him with teary eyes.
"It was me who was supposed to die. I tried to bring him back but the king of the underworld said he cannot give me the soul he didn't have. That only means one thing; he's already in the heavens chosen to be reincarnated." Hangeng held Heechul's hand. He knew that after the burial he can only do one thing. Follow his one true love.
"Foolish mortals." Yehsung appeared out of nowhere.
"What do you want evil sorcerer?! You've done enough! Look at my child! Dead because of your curse!" Kangin said as he and Eeteuk drew their swords. They cannot let Yehsung to do further harm.
Suddenly Ryeowook appeared beside Yehsung, slapping his arm. "What did I told you?! You told me you'll help but you just want to bully them! You...You'll sleep on the couch tonight!!!"
"But honey..."
"HONEY?!" everyone was surprised. They didn't expect the two to be a couple. Further more THE evil Yehsung saying 'honey'infront of them. It was simply...unbelievable.
"Fine. Stupid king and queen plus the knight/cook too, Heechul's soul is in a limbo. The cause of his death was a curse so only the greatest curse could counter it." Yehsung explained.
"What is it?" Hangeng asked.
"Duh! True love's first kiss! Is everyone fairytale deprived here except me?" Yehsung rolled his eyes.
Hangeng looked at the Heechul’s parents who only nodded with permission. As his lips touched Heechul's, he felt him take a deep breath. His eyes fluttered open and he stretched like he had woken up from a blissful sleep. "What happened? Mom, is dinner ready yet? I'm hungry." His parents could only laugh as they plus Hangeng hugged him tight.
Yehsung, feeling a little giving (and with a little promise from Ryeowook which is better not mentioned) freed Sungmin, Kyuhyun from the realm of Mirrors and freed Kibum from the hand mirror. Kibum's freedom was short-lived when his parents asked/ordered him to be Heechul's first born son's fairy guardian so he had to stay with Heechul for a very long time. Witnesses swore they saw Kibum for the first time throw a temper tantrum.
Heechul later on got married with Hangeng. He later found out he's actually the infamous chef Hankyung and the fried rice he had eaten were the Beijing fried rice he craved before. He later on gave birth to a boy I'll not name but according to Shindong the seer, he'll become the bassist of a group named FT island. Not to mention the king and queen having two more sons, one who's great at violin while moon walking and the other, the lead vocals of FT Island.
Needless to say, they all lived happily ever after.
Yep, I knew I tell a good bed night story.
After all, I'm Korea's no.1
