Are you a bad enough dude to mod Luceti?

Sep 26, 2011 20:17

Rumor has it that there are some RPers in this game with way too much time on their hands. Well, good!

Because WE want YOU for the Luceti mod team!

With Luceti getting busier and the current mod team not always able to keep up, we sometimes get a tad bit overworked. Even with such awesome people already doing everything (and Ishka), we could always use a helping hand. So how about a little help?

The Position Offered: Maintenance or technical mod. This will include keeping certain lists up to date, like the Timeline, the Contacts page, pruning dropped characters from the Recruitment and Pet Registration pages, and other various tasks. Additionally, if you notice anything that needs a fix -the FAQ, a question involving plot or a question you don't know the answer to, any complaints or suggestions that need to be addressed- you can bring it to our attention and hand off all the dirty "dealing with people" work. Your job will be purely in the background. You don't even have to deal with people bringing Activity Check problems to you.

HOWEVER. This is only a maintenance position; because the plot is often overcomplicated and constantly changing, there's no need to catch the person up on the behind-the-scenes stuff. This also means there will be no NPC for the new mod, too.

However we may ask the new mod to sometimes contribute in reviewing applications. This will likely consist of one of the mods consulting the new mod on applications in which they are familiar with the canon. Consequently, we'll be asking applicants to let us know what canons they have a strong familiarity with, for the sake of making things easier all around.

Do you still want to app? Really? Well then...

WHAT WE WILL KEEP IN MIND WHEN JUDGING MOD APPLICATIONS

  • Integrity. The unfortunate side effect of being in LJRP is that there is a strong culture of wank perpetuated by being anonymous in outside communities. We have no way of policing that, but we want mods who won't contribute to this kind of behavior. If we know that you're someone who is prone to stirring things up with anonymous comments or creating negative secrets, we're likely not going to consider you for a position.
  • Activity. This goes without saying, but if you have to struggle desperately to meet AC requirements we're gonna assume you don't have enough time to do any kind of mod work. Even if you are good with your activity, please don't apply unless you have the time and energy to actually contribute. We're hoping to recruit someone who will do more than give us a cool new mod icon.
  • Personality. Part of being a mod is being confident and having some good common sense. If you're getting bashed on the anon comms or having secrets written about you? We're looking for someone who will take it in stride. Troll bait? We want someone who knows just to ignore it. This doesn't mean we're looking for someone arrogant and boastful (we have Masa for that), just someone who is willing to talk to us about stuff and not be too shy to actually get things done.
  • Seniority. Although not the most important factor, we do want someone who has been with us awhile and isn't about to just up and leave the game. This doesn't mean you have to be with us for years or even a whole year. We'll consider everyone, but we just want to be sure we won't have to turn around and look for a new mod in a couple of months.
  • Ability. When it comes right down to it, being able to do basic HTML work with links and tables and images is just the name of the game. If you want to do this, we want you to already know how to work with all this stuff. Beyond just knowing HTML, being a bit intuitive on how to speed up your work can be very useful in making your job that much easier.

Still interested? ... well, so much for the sanity of our players. But if that's the case, please fill out the form below and reply to this post. All comments are screened and we'll be contacting the selected candidate directly, so this post is purely for submissions and will remain screened. The deadline for submission is NEXT MONDAY, 11:59 PM EST. That's the 3rd for people keeping score at home.

Name:
Contact: (email or AIM, preferably the latter since that's the easiest/fastest way for us to communicate)
Characters at Luceti: Names AND journals, please!
Previous modding experience? If yes, please describe your duties.

How seriously do you take RP?

Why do you want this position on the modteam? You won't be a full mod or even get to make big decisions or do fun plot things.

What do you dislike about Luceti as it is? What do you like?

If someone said something you strongly disagreed with on either RP!S or the Anon Meme, would you confront them logged in or would you use Anon so that you don't accidentally make the game look bad? How do you feel about making Secrets?

What is your take on all the technical work required? Researching canons for applications, updating HTML, keeping lists, etc.

For the purpose of application help, please provide some canons that you would feel comfortable being consulted on.

Lastly, why should we pick you?

And that's it! If you do apply, we appreciate the effort! We really consider this a favor on our behalf and the rest of the game, so thank you for being willing to put that much effort into keeping the RP running smoothly. So really, if this is something you are putting the effort into (or at least want to), then that makes you cool people.

ONE LAST THING. If for some reason we aren't able to pick a suitable candidate for the moderator position, we may choose not to select anyone. If this is the case and you were an applicant, don't take this as a personal slight. There's several considerations we will be taking into account. In the unlikely event that happens, it would be better for us to keep things the way they are.
