This has been my first non-DR game in five years, and I've gotta say, you guys are making me wish I'd come off my RP hiatus a hell of a lot sooner. I've been having such a blast, everyone is super-welcoming, and your organisation of this pretty damn large game leaves me constantly and consistently impressed.

Thank you for being awesome and letting me have such a wonderful time here. <3

Not as much crit, as it is a suggestion, but is it possible to have a notice on the front page for when Application Interest is open? I know you guys make a note for when apps are opened, but I think having something there for when the interest/pseudo reserves are open would be helpful too.

Can do- good idea.

Just a cosmetic suggestion, but changing the "Reservations" to "Application Interest" on the comm profiles might be good since we don't technically do reservations anymore?

The lack of change is intentional, actually, since Reserves are the common term for it. Someone might not know what Application Interest even means, but everyone understands "Reserves" in the RP community, and it essentially has the same purpose- just with different rules.

Oh! Okay. :) I didn't realize that part. Thanks for explaining!

Any chance of a discussion on the "no unpublished webcomic characters" rule? I can't be the only one chomping at the bit to bring a Homestuck character to Luceti. At the very least, some modly commentary on why the rule is there would be nice if it's possible removal isn't up for discussion.

Agreed, particularly as it seems unlikely Homestuck is ever GOING to be published (the format doesn't really allow for it) but at the same time it easily has enough canon and character development to be a match for several of the series we have represented.

Oh please no. A lack of a Homestuck cast is one of the reasons I liked Luceti.

Gonna go ahead an answer everyone in one comment, so here goes:

The webcomic rule is something that has been in place for a long time, and has caused a great deal of debating over the years. Because of issues that have come up in the past, I'm pretty firm on the rule staying in place, and I'm not really interested in opening up the discussion again. The very basic response is that it's a rule most of us are comfortable with keeping.

The original reasons as to why comics are not allowed, and why they continue to not be allowed, are a) the issue of taking someone else's intellectual property from the internet versus making use of publicized and very public characters, and b) the ambiguity of what should be allowed versus what isn't. This isn't a "Homestuck is not allowed" rule, it's a rule that doesn't force us to pick and choose what counts as a valid character-driven webcomic or not. I'm sure someone could make a good argument for playing a Derpette from Rage Comics but that doesn't make it okay. If the webcomic is yours, that's one ( ... )

I...am sorta new to Luceti still, and I am really not sure how this issue would affect the game. Personally, I feel that a canon such as Homestuck or another well-received comic published in a format that does not lend itself to a physical print medium would positively benefit the game as a whole ( ... )

How would having a Homestuck cast actually be a benefit to the game? If anything it seems like Luceti would be an atrocious fit for them without a good amount of effort from the muns in helping the characters fit in. The journal system doesn't lend itself well to the typing quirks since it is all either voiced or handwritten. And it isn't like they'd have ready access to computers either. It honestly seems like it would be very hard to get a Homestuck cast to really stick here and because the canon isn't such a good fit.

And really, the mods have said no, they aren't considering it. This isn't the first time it's come up either and they are sticking to their guns on it. I don't blame them one bit because it would be too hard to try and figure out which webcomics are fine and which are not. Personally, I'm glad for the rule because I like there being some games where we can get a break from the craze.

not trying to involve myself in the debate and not really invested in either side, but homestuck characters don't need computers or quirks to function (though when they handwrite things they usually use their quirks too)

as the series goes on, more and more of the conversations between characters are face-to-face; the chatlog format is just a style consistency thing. if anything, the lack of techy communicator devices would weed out the bad players because it forces a mun to do things beyond the gimmick.

just sayin'.
